About this book

Mahendra Baba's own telling of how Lord Sadashiva came down into the world as Haidakhan Baba — written as sacred verse and set out in parts: the compassion of Daya Devi and Mother Ambika, the Lord's departure for Kurmanchal Kailash, the founding of the eight-fold Shiva temple at Haidakhan, and the blessings poured on devotees such as Gumani. Each verse is given in the original transliterated Hindi and Avadhi with its English meaning beneath, so the sound of the original is kept alongside the sense. Composed, its closing verse says, in the space of nine hours.
