The Publisher’s Note is candid about how this book came to exist, and about what is missing from it: “We are indeed unfortunate not to have recorded all that was spoken by Shree Babaji. We were so enamoured by His divine presence and felt so fulfilled to be able to sit at His lotus feet that no organized effort was made to convert in written form” what He said. What survives here is what disciples managed to write down anyway — and at nearly 44,000 words in the main chapter alone, it is still the largest collection of Bābājī’s teachings on this shelf.

What makes this collection different

Where Quotes from Sri Babaji offers a handful of sayings with no context, many entries here carry an actual date and setting — a spoken instruction from 14 March 1980, for instance, on karma yoga: an early-morning work assignment at the ashram, filling the water tank before nine, meeting at the cave site for work. The teachings on right living sit beside teachings on the state of the world — one entry describes “demonic influences” abroad in the world and a coming period of destruction, lull, and peace — giving a sense of both the practical and the apocalyptic registers Bābājī is recorded as speaking in.

The Foreword itself is worth reading as history rather than doctrine: it places Bābājī’s 1970 reappearance at a cave “holy for thousands of years” at the foot of Mount Kailāsa in Kumaon, across the sacred river, and describes the forty-five days He spent seated at the small old temple on the mountain’s summit that September — meditating for much of it, speaking only occasionally.

Who compiled it

The book does not name a single translator or compiler on its title material; it presents itself as the work of disciples who sat at Haiḍākhāṇ and wrote down what they could. The Publisher’s Note is itself part of the honest record — an admission of incompleteness rather than a claim of completeness.

What you are actually reading

  • A collected item, gathered rather than translated by this library.
  • Offered as a PDF and as a web reading edition.
  • A glossary chapter is included for the Sanskrit and Hindi terms used in the teachings.

If you are deciding where to start

Read this if you want the largest body of Bābājī’s own recorded words available here, with real dates and settings attached to many of them — treat it as a book to dip into over a long time rather than finish in one sitting.

Read Quotes from Sri Babaji first if you want something far shorter before committing to this one; the two overlap in spirit but this book is more than thirty times its length.
