FROM THE AUTHOR

God Almighty has created this universe which is like a huge stage. Souls (jeev) come into the world and become actors. The form in which they take birth is decided by their deeds (karma) in the previous birth. Talking of humans, we must know, the hard fact that when born, a person is empty handed. Likewise he is bare-handed when he leaves this world. In his lifetime, he enjoys or suffers, depending on his Karma and leaves behind either the fragrance of his virtues or a distasteful record of wickedness and sins.

After arrival, Jeev tends to ignore the Supreme Power. Childhood is spent playing and the youth in gratifying lusts. He indulges in all kind of vices, forgets the Creator, loses the right track and becomes rudderless. If he lives a long life, the inevitable physical problems remind him of Godly presence and the watch He is keeping on every individual. With a worn out body, he becomes remorseful for his follies. But little does he realize that, it is too late. Fortunate are those who feel the strong presence of God Almighty at an early stage in life and reap the benefits of His benevolence.

Now a word about Uttranchal, my home state which is a part of the great Himalyan ranges. According to Hindu (Sanatan Dharma) mythology, the Garhwal region has been the "karm bhoomi" (land of deeds) of great saints engaged in spiritual pursuits. The adjoining holy region of Kumaon has been the land of spiritual Siddhas (realized souls) and of great souls. We belong to district Almora which occupies a special place in the region.

My parents late Shri Ram Singh Rana, mother late Shrimati Yashoda Devi and elder brother late Shri Bishan Singh Rana had devoted their spiritual life for the good of all living beings. They were worshippers of Lord Shiva and Shri Guru Gorakhnath, as well as village deities. Their day began only after performing the early morning puja (worship). They treated Sadhus (high realized souls) with utmost respect and took pleasure in serving them.

My elder brother late Shri Bishan Singh Rana spent most of his life in the service of Shri Haidakhan Baba, Munindra Maharaj, Somwari Maharaj, Brahmchari Baba, who were known for their divine shakti i OM NAMAH SHIVAY PREFACE Lord Shiva has created a breathtaking assortment of flora and fauna, plants and trees bearing fruits of all kind and tastes, multi-coloured flowers and shrubs of precious herbs. The fauna includes beautiful birds, dreaded reptiles and insects, butterflies, exotic marine life, pretty rabbits, deer and mighty tigers and elephants and what not. All for what may be described as Gods blessed garden. To enable the indestructible soul to enjoy His wonderful gift, God created a human body made of five elements - ether, air, fire, water and earth - to dwell in. It would be appropriate to describe the human body as the 'Temple of the soul' which is part and parcel of the creator.

Kabeer the great saint poet of his time, had in his verses linked the human body with a sheet of cloth. The cloth, he said, is spotless and clean when a person is born. But by the time he leaves the world, he sullies it with his unworthy deeds (karma).

Another saintly poet has described soul as a bird which nesting on a tree, that is, the human body. When it is time to depart, he tells the bird "Oh dear, the axeman (God of death) has come to cut this tree. So, it is now time for you to fly out to another perch to make a new nest".

Swami Fakiranand says that Bhole Baba enlightened him on the composition of the human body with the five elements - ether, air, fire, water and earth - which is like a temple. Let there be no distraction from his noble path which alone could ensure a person's re-union with God, emphasizes Swamiji.

Swami Fakiranand iii (power) and showering blessings on their followers, in particular, the hungr poors. With the blessings of immortal saint Shri Guru Gorakhnath, brothe Dilip Singh Rana and myself Chandra Singh Rana, completed our educatior and landed office jobs in Delhi.

In the near closed society in our village in Almora district ther was a family with dubious record of all sorts. They were all bullies who used to intimidate, the village people to maintain their hegemony over them No body was supposed to raise his head in front of them. They expectec the village people to simply follow them blindly and ask no questions.

All of them being illiterate, they did not relish the thought of my brother and myself getting education and then taking up jobs outside thei "empire".

They were so sweet-tongued that prima facie no body coulc suspect their real motives. Our family was totally opposed to their ways They could not entertain the thought of challenge to their authority. So, they decided to eliminate our family using all possible means, including poison, 'tantra' (black magic) and physical assault. We got to know about their devious moves through divine forces that kept protecting us.

The lethal attempts made by that family on us and how Shri 1008 Bhagwan Haidakhan gave us His protection find details mentioned in this book.

But the same Mahatmas are very soft towards their devotees. Perhaps, few people can identify such wonderful saints endowed with these characteristics.

Who is not aware of the greatness and glory of Shri 1008 Haidakhandi Bhagwan? It is not easy to enumerate all His qualities and divine 'leelas' in one go.

The grandeur of His Ashram, it's serene atmosphere, Shri Bhagwan's daily routine and rendering of eulogies in praise of Him, provide immense spiritual pleasure to the devout.

“साधूनां दर्शन पुण्य, तीर्थभूता हि साधवः”

The very sight of Mahatmas is a spiritually gainful experience for whichever place they traverse acquires piety and peace. I am one of those lucky devotees who had the privilege of having darshan of Shri Shri 1008 Haidakhandi Maharaj. I had the opportunity of going to His Ashram.

v नाम लेत चौगुनी, गये ते द्वार सौगुनी। देखत सहस्त्र गुनी, प्रीति प्रभु मानिहैं।। "Merely remembering a Mahatma raises the love content in a devout's heart by four times. Going to Him increases it by 100 times. But, it becomes 1000 times when he gets the saint's darshan, that is, sees Him in person".

This small book makes an humble attempt to give to the reader some idea of Shri Shri 1008 Bhagwan Haidakhandi's munificence, His infinite and wonderful acts and performances. A mere glimpse of Him gives peace and takes away a person's agony. I am confident that those who read this book themselves and to others would greatly benefit spiritually.

। It is an incontrovertible fact that if some one sincerely prays and seeks God's blessings and benevolence to get rid of his problems, He certainly comes to his rescue. The book before you contains a vivid description of godly miracles and how the invisible Almighty always protected a family of His devotees in distress for a number of years.

Three real brothers - Thakur Bishan Singh, Dilip Singh and Chandra Singh (Swami Fakiranand), author of this book, belong to Village Dhanyan, P.O. Nagar Khan, in district Almora, Uttaranchal. They had a joint family. Their affection for each other was enviable and un-describable. About 40 years ago, the family ran into rough weather. All its members became victims of inertia. In 1946-47 when the off spring of Dilip Singh and Chandra Singh came to their ancestral village Dhanyan from Delhi, the two brothers lost the elder daughter and son each. The two families were struck with extreme grief. Soon after, one or the other family member would get afflicted with some serious ailment. Every year, their cattle started perishing causing enormous financial loss to the whole family. Miseries kept multiplying.

Eldest brother Bishan Singh and parents were deeply religious people who treated sadhus with utmost respect. They were devotees of the previous form of Shri Shri 1008 Bhagwan Haidakhan as well as Shri 108 Somwari Baba and Shri 1008 Bal Brahmachari Baba.

Bishan Singh had a daughter named Rewati. Right from her childhood days, she was a stubborn type but truthful. She never accepted any eatable even if it was 'Prasad' (offering to a deity) from any outsider. Rewati received education upto Vth standard only at her village school. When she was 9 or 10, she asked her father, "Why don't you choose a suitable match for me and perform my marriage, father ?"

Why did she want to get married would become clear in the following pages.

Anyway, by the grace of god, Rewati was married off in February 1959 at the age of 17. Two months later, in April, she went to her in laws place in Basera village. But soon after, her health started deteriorating Rewati's right leg started trembling. Despite treatment, she was losing her health rapidly. At one stage, she remained unconscious for 40 hours Tantriks and Mantriks (Practitioners of occult science) from far and near also tried their hand. But all hopes were lost. So much so, a sheet of new cloth to serve as the shroud over the body was arranged.

But see God Almighty's leela. He had willed otherwise. Rewati's condition started improving and after a few days she was moving about normally. One late evening she was tendering the cattle in the cowshed when she saw two white clad persons holding battery flashlight in their hands. One of them was wearing a turban (a wrapping of long cloth to cover the head). The sight sent a chill down the recuperating Rewati's spine.

Readers need not view this kind of phenomenon with skepticism, for there are instances of God coming in various forms to help anyone who remembers Him earnestly. It had happened in the case of Meera, Saint Raidas, Saint Kabir and the like.

There was nobody in the gaushala (cow-shed) at that particular time. Mistaking one of the two for Pratap Singh, her husband's maternal cousin, Rewati asked him, "Why are you here at this late hour?". Without replying, the two kept standing. A frightened Rewati went back to her house.

Thereafter, a strange development took place. Often, Rewati won't eat anything and would vomit yellow coloured watery substance. On the other hand, she would at times eat as much food as would be consumed by 3-4 persons. Surprisingly, despite being unwell, she used to fetch from a pond a big quantity of water in vessels. Carrying so much weight effortlessly surprised everybody.

After a few days, she stopped taking food and was put under treatment. Her forced stay at home was however, not liked by her husband's aunts who wanted Rewati to continue doing the daily chores at the family farm. That day, she heard some unknown force whispering into her ears, " these women are extremely jealous of you. But you need not worry. Go to the field and work. I am with you always".

From that day onwards, despite her father-in-laws advice not to strain herself, Rewati would spend most of the day working at the farm. Her mother-in-law felt that Rewati was not suffering from any ailment as such. But she could get rid of her problems if sent to her parents' place where their family deity could take care of her. However, in view of the state of her health, her father-in-law did not send her. He gave her whatever treatment was recommended by the family's well wishers. But nothing benefited her.

One day, while going to the forest with some other village women, she paused for a while for rest and dozed off. Rewati heard some one cautioning her, "Don't take a nap here. There is nobody to help you out at this place". On another occasion, she fell asleep in the farm field. Once again, her family deity told her that it was not a safe place for her to take a nap.

One day, she was sitting by the side of the rivulet from where she could overlook a small but deep water reservoir meant for running a hydro flour mill. Given her mental state, Rewati thought of jumping into the reservoir to commit suicide and end all her problems. Next moment, she felt it was not the proper thing to do. That would unnecessarily create agony and difficulties for all. Rewati was in two minds. Just then, she heard a voice, "Jump into the reservoir. Your body would float over to the bank of the rivulet".

She dumped her belongings on the bank. But just when she was preparing to jump into the water, a voice admonished her, "Stop. Don't take this extreme step". Rewati stepped back. Her sisters in-law (wives of her husband's elder brothers) who happened to have witnessed Rewati's suicide bid rushed to her. Later, they told other family members about it.

Rewati's mother-in-law flared up and took her to task. She was repeatedly asked about the reasons that drove her to attempt suicide but she just kept mum. Clearly, Rewati was under the spell of Tantra (Black Magic) which was impelling her to jump into the water whereas her family deity was protecting her by advising her against doing so.

One dark night, Rewati was in the courtyard of her house when somebody died in a village nearby. She noticed a streak resembling a white thread floating in the skies from one side to the other. An unknown force indicated to her that it was the soul of the person who had died in the village. Rewati was told that she would survive if the white streak started descending instead of going up. This is how the soul, after leaving the body goes towards the Heavens.

White thread was the soul Next moment, the soul was really moving downwards. Rewati regained her senses and asked her mother-in-law if somebody had died in the nearby village. The old lady confirmed it and told Rewati all about it.

One day, when she was working in the field along with family members, a voice told her, "You won't be here to consume the produce of this farm". When she visited the place for the second time, she saw her Isht Devata (family deity) standing near the field repeating the observation.

Rewati wanted to tell other women about the strange presence of that person but she was unable to speak. Shortly after she was in Almora where also the family deity appeared before her and gave her some instructions. But here too she found herself unable to tell her mother in law and others about the strange person standing before her and giving directions. Despite her best efforts she failed to express herself.

In the initial stages, she discovered that things would not happen the way she visualised them. As a result, she was proved wrong and people would pooh- pooh all that she said. A distressed Rawati said to herself, "Oh God, I had never imagined that all this would happen to me". Just then her family deity appeared and asked her, "You never accepted godly presence at your parents' place. How come you are remembering God today? What has revived your faith? Your temple is the abode of Lord Shiva and Goddes Bhagwati and has got the 'dhuni' (smokefire) of Guru Gorakhnath, Bhumiyan Deva and the temple of Kalyan Bisht. Where you wept".

Notwithstanding her trembling leg, Rewati used to carry heavy loads of fuel wood and grass on her head effortlessly. It used to take two three persons to offload the heavy stack, but to Rewati it weighed like a stack of feathers.

One day she was returning from a nearby forest with a very heavy haystack on her head. The load was too much for her capacity. Rewat noticed a person with a walking stick in hand wearing a surge white suit and a turban on his head appearing in front of her. He started walking in front of her. And with that she discovered that the bundle of grass on her head had become feather-weight. The stranger told her, "This place is known as Harudhung. You can take rest here". Rewati signaled the other woman, wife of her husband's elder brother, for a brief rest and they took off their load and lay on the ground for a brief rest. The well-dressed gentleman sat between the two bundles of hey. A little later, the stranger asked Rewati to getup and follow him, which they did. They even took an upward climb but the Rewati did not feel the burden of the haystack on her head.

The stranger told Rewati, "See, there is your house. Now you go home. But remember, don't take off your haystack yourself. Take the help of your mother-in-law and other women".

The incident show that God grants all protection to whoever remembers and worships Him.

All the onlookers were surprised to find that the haystack when put on the ground seem to have grown in volume. It occupied the entire space which would have accommodated 14-15 bundles of that size. At a later date Rewati narrated the incident to her father who told her it was Shri 1008 Bal Brahmchari Maharaj in his "real attire". He was giving her instructions and protecting her at every step. This was confirmed by the Isht devata (village deity) also that it was no body else but Mahachaughan. Village deities always addressed Shri 1008 Bhagwan Haidakhan or Shri 1008 Bal Brahmchari Maharaj as Mahachaughan.

In the parlance of the world renowned, spiritual institution, 'The Theosophical Society', the word 'Mahachaughan' is used for the master of the cosmos.

Mystery of White Shoes It may be recalled here that once when Rewati's husband Kundan Singh Adhikari entered his house wearing white shoes, family deity appeared to tell Rewati that there was another person in Dhanyan, her parents' village, who wore similar white shoes. This second man is indulging in black magic. Rewati felt like taking her husband to task because he was wearing the white shoes. However, her family deity counseled her against doing so.

Rewati's health started deteriorating. She was not responding to any of the treatments given to her. When she vomited blood, her family deity advised her to go to her parents' place which was not far off. Till that time nobody at her husbands' place had cared to inform Rewatis' parents about her worsening condition. In the mean time her brother Laxman Singh arrived from Almora to meet her. He was shocked to see Rewati's poor condition and wondered why nobody at her in-laws' place had bothered to inform her parents in Dhanyan. In the evening Laxman Singh took her to Dhanyan. where her father Bishan Singh enquired about Rewati's health. Replying, Laxman Singh said "she is alright but for the past two days....". He had not completed the sentence and collapsed on the ground and fainted. Rewati's eldest brother Govind Singh Rana rushed to other village Sironia and brought along the family priest Pandit Krishna Nand and a nursing assistant Bhawani Dutt. With great difficulty, Bhawani Dutt opened Laxman Singh's locked jaw but it got jammed once again. Even when he was unconscious, Laxman Singh swung his arm with such force that nobody dared to go near him. He regained senses some time after vibhuti (sacred ash) was applied on his forehead. Laxman Singh said he was sorry that he could not be of any help to Rewati. Laxman Singh ran temperature for a couple of days and became weak.

Ailing Rewati showed no improvement in her condition. Occasionally, she would scream like some mentally deranged person. Laxman Singh's condition did not register any progress either. People started treating them as mental cases. When some more hardships befell the family, Bishan Singh telegraphically summoned his two brothers from Delhi to Dhanyan when the condition of Rewati and Laxman Singh was deteriorating rapidly.

On July 28, 1961, Rewati's other brother Raghuvir Singh arrived. After making preliminary inquiries about the state of health of Rewati and Laxman Singh from various sources in Almora, Raghubir Singh reached Dhanyan. He could feel from a distance the impact of Rewati's shaking leg. Raghubir firmly caught hold of the leg but the trembling did not cease.

Gayatri Mantra's Miracle After dinner, Rewati was sitting in the drawing room along with her father and brother Laxman Singh. Her mother and the other brother Raghuvir Singh were in the kitchen. Rewati called out her father complaining of stomach pain and difficulty in breathing. Immediately Laxman went to the adjoining room and chanted the Gayatri Mantra for about 30 minutes. (Gayatri Mantra is an all-pervading mantra) Rewati caused more anxious moments when she kept muttering something unintelligible for about 45 minutes. But soon after not only she but Laxman Singh also felt better. A little later both relapsed into their ailment and started hurling invectives.

Thinking that they were under the spell of some evil spirits, some 4-5 sorcerers were summond. They exhausted all their techniques but failed to help out the two.

One of the sorcerer, Lal Singh, a well built person, asked Laxman Singh in a raised voice, "Say, who I am?" Came the reply, " You are a ghost". Lal Singh was red in the face and cautioned Laxman Singh to talk sence. In spite of being so weak Laxman Singh caught the well built sorcerer by his hair, floored him and perched himself on his chest. Then he tried to throw Lal Singh out of the window but some body shut the window. The sorcerer slapped Laxman Singh very hard. The sorcerer called for 'Bichhu' grass to scare Laxman Singh. (Bichhu grass is a weed found mainly in the hilly region. When touched it causes the effect of scorpion's sting). Laxman Singh even crushed the 'Bichhu' grass with his bare hands with great ease. Thereafter Laxman Singh fainted.

On regaining senses, Laxman Singh asked as to who had slapped him. But little earlier when he was under the influence of some evil spirit, he was muttering some thing to the effect that "both the persons are already a harassed a lot. Still, why are they being troubled?". Laxman Singh told the evil spirit that if at all it wanted to take some life, he was prepared to offer himself. But he won't let any harm come to his sister Rewati. "But if you don't listen to me, I won't let you remain here, " Laxman told the invisible force.

On the other hand, Rewati told those present that instead of worrying about her, they should take care of her brother Laxman. She than became unconscious and collapsed on the ground. The scene disturbed all those present there.

Next morning, Rewati told her father if the spirit did not disclose its identity and its objective, she would do it herself at 3 pm. At the given time, Rewati spoke out, "The fruit tree out side the main entrance of your house dried up because your enemies had implanted a 'Trishul' (trident) in the wall near the tree about 4 years back on 28 July 1957. They had tried hard to place it inside the house and had they succeeded the entire family would have been eliminated that very night. But all the village deities told the evil spirit that as the entire family was their devotees, it should keep away from the place and desist from doing them any harm. At that point of time, there was a burst of barking and wailing of jackals and dogs. All of a sudden Bishan Singh rushed outside to urinate, which he never used to go earlier so suddenly.

LORD SHIVA DEPUTES DEITIES TO PROTECT THE FAMILY

The house of Bishan Singh Rana was built with the grace of Lord Trilok Nath, which is another name of Lord Shiva. That is why the house is often called Ashram. In front are located the temples of Guru Gorakh Nath and Bhumiya Deva, in the East Shiva temple and on top in the north Bhagwati's temple. The Lord had reassured Bishan Singh that he had 'appointed' all the village deities to protect him and his family.

The Lord had shown His all forms i.e. Kanchhopi Topa (Shri 1008 Bhagwan Haidakhan), Shri Bal Bramhchari, Shri Somwari to the evil spirit and warned the spirit. The trident (evil spirit) said, "He has deputed all the village deities in your protection. One has to have divine vision to see all this. This is beyond imagination of the human brain and physical vision". Thus the trident got scared. But the barking and wailing of dogs and jackals continued.

That was the reason why the undesirable elements were unable to implant the trishul in Bishan Singh's house. Overtaken by fear, they just thrust it into the wall and fled. The trishul (trident) had been "activated" to do harm by a black magic practitioner (tantric) for a monetary consideration of Rs 8500/- only.

It was brought by Karamkori from Buxas on a Monday and on Tuesday during the dark phase of the moon it was brought on a bronze plate along with some raw rice and vermilion to implant in the Bishan Singh's house. He waited for two hours between midnight and 2 am for a suitable opportunity to implant it in the courtyard of Bishan Singh's house. But by the grace of Shri 1008 Sambasada Shiva, he failed in his nasty mission. In plain words, the objective was to eliminate the family of 22 members, their close friends as well as their entire cattle wealth. His success would have spelt total devastation there. In any case the trishul which was embedded in the wall, took the toll of the fruit tree near the entrance to the house. It dried up completely.

In this way the first secret was revealed by the spirit of Rewati to Bishan Singh. The spirit also disclosed that they are no one else, but village deities, who have been ordered to protect your family from your enemies.

Much earlier in 1944, following the death of Bishan Singh's mother, a trishul, which had been procured for Rs 1500/- through a Bengali performer of black magic had been planted somewhere on the top story of the house. Soon after its evil effects started surfacing i.e. more and more family members who started getting afflicted with serious ailments. The family faced the obstacles at every stage. Bishan Singh's younger brothers Dilip Singh and Chandra Singh lost two children each. Problems did not seem to end.

On the occasion of Rewati's marriage in February 1961, Karamkori sitting in the dark corner of the house had given to Dalip Singh and Chandra Singh two 'poories' each, which he said had been fried in ghee. One hour later Dalip Singh vomited and his tongue showed serious injury. Chandra Singh developed high temperature and became unconscious. Yet, he also vomited, rolled out of the cot and fell on the ground. But thanks to Bhagwan Haidakhan, he was saved.

There is another anecdote. In 1930-31, wheat weighing about one mound had been ground at the hydro flour mill for the consumption of the big family. Suddenly, a stone blocked the water stream that was running the mills. Within no time, the overflowing water carried the entire flour into the river. The incident angered the head of the family Ram Singh Rana who scolded his son Bishan Singh for his carelessness that led to the loss of so much atta (flour).

It was 30-31 years later that Rewati disclosed about what had gone wrong at flour mill. She said, that the 'atta' had been poisoned by Karamkori's father, who wanted to wipe out the whole family. However, Mahachaughan ensured that the flour is not consumed by any body in the family and had it thrown into the river water. It was truly another shining example of the Bhole Baba protecting His devotees whom he loves so much.

Several Mysteries Unrevealed Several other mysteries were thus unrevealed by the family deity using Rewati as a medium.

One big trishul was planted in a big farm field across the river opposite the 'Ashram' to cause serious harm to the crop in 1957. Another was embedded in a barren field towards the North of the Ashram. She made the disclosures on October20, 1961.

Coinciding with Rewati's visit to her ancestral village, Dhanyan, these elements informed three professional hard-core criminals that she has come with very heavy gold jewelry. Armed to the teeth with lethal firearms etc, the criminals knew the black magic also. During the night, they used to hide close to the house of their prospective victim. The protective family deity cautioned all and sundry through Rewati, the medium against venturing out after dusk in view of the lurking danger in their vicinity. The divine directive was fallowed in letter and spirit. Most people did not sleep in the night at all. They spent the time holding 'satsang' (spiritual discourses).

One night at about 2 am, Digambar Singh, younger brother of Rewati's husband was also present in the outer room. Suddenly, one could hear the sound of some movement outside. The window was opened and some body was seen rushing out of the courtyard and jumping into the adjoining field. At this, Laxman Singh, his brother Govind singh and Digamber Singh started shouting, "thief, thief". They tried to chase them upto the Shivalaya (lord Shiva's Temple) in Dhanyan village. But being a dark night, nothing was visible. Only the footsteps of the retreating person or persons could be heard.

During the night, the dog barked twice or thrice and ran out in a particular direction. However, the family members did not take any notice of it. The barking continued. At this stage, the family deities intervened. Using Rewati as medium, they advised everybody to keep all the doors and windows shut and not to go out of the house during the night. The deities conveyed that the criminals were sitting near the haystacks and waiting for an opportunity to enter the house. All of you must remain alert and careful.

The family God saw to it that Rewati did not wear heavy costly jewelry. However, the night-long vigil and the constant worries for several days at a stretch made the family members weary. Boredom set in and the initial enthusiasm was gone. Upon this, the deity assured them all that he would drive those evil persons out of the area and gradually they would stop frequenting the place.

Incidentally, Laxman Singh had a history of suffering at the hands of practitioners of black magic. At least on three occasions he wa surreptitiously given something to eat. In Delhi, the mother of a girl calle Uma made him chew some unknown things in a Betel leaf. Apparently, i was because of these factors that he used to fall sick quite frequently.

CS Rana Treated 'em Well It would be relevant to point out that two performers of black magic who were known to the Rana family came to Delhi way back in 1944-45. They stayed with Chandra Singh Rana at his house (E-26 IARI, Pusa, New Delhi) where they were treated like an honoured gues and given all respects due to them. Since the two had always given th impression of being friends and well wishers of the Rana family, nobod could suspect their real intentions. So, the two performed some blacl magic at Chandra Singh Rana's house before going back.

But nobody could cheat God almighty who knows about eac and every person. Having discoursed that the two evil men were out to harm Bishan Singh's family in every possible manner and would continu to betray the family's confidence in them in future as well, Mahachaugha (Shri 1008 Bhagwan Haidakhan) once again made Rewati the medium to convey His messages and instructions.

In one message, he said, "I had seen to it that the village Deity Kalyan Bisht, takes birth from the womb of Mrs Bishan Singh. Thus Bisht has come in the form of Rewati to unravel all the mysterious going on and protect the family members from adversities".

That precisely was why Rewati, when she was only 9-10 year old, demanded that she be married off. She could not have conveyed th deity's messages as long as her 'gotra' did not change and she remained part of her parents' family. It may be noted that as soon as Rewati wa married and took the new 'gotra' from her husband's family, she starte making disclosures. She was only six years old when the family deit appeared before her for the first time wearing saffron clothes. Later, sh had the deity's 'darshan' several times. At that tender age she often though she was face to face with some ghost.

The customary wooden cot, which is given to the bride in marriage was prepared by brothers of the Karamakori (sorcerer). Two utensils that were gifted by him also formed part of the dowry items given to her. Later, near panic spread on the discovery that whoever slept on the cot came under the spell of some weird force. As a result, nobody was willing to use what they believed was a haunted bed. Quite often, the two gifted vessels would also start rolling on their own giving impression to the onlookers that the whole house was also quaking.

At the time of Rewati's marriage, the karamakori (sorcerer) had unsuccessfully tried to assume the responsibility of supervising the cooking of food for the marriage party. Ishtdev later revealed that the sorcerer had intended to poison the food with the ultimate objective of sending the family members behind the bars for the deaths that could have been caused. However, the sorcerer failed in his attempt and nothing of the kind he had envisaged happened, because God had willed so.

Yet the sorcerer failed to learn any lessons from his failure. Undeterred, he persisted with his nasty activities.

On 28th July 1961, Rewati had this to say to her father:- "Early tomorrow morning, please go to Warangal village and ask my fellow-disciple Lal Singh to meet me. Don't get upset if you come across any obstacles".

However, nobody could leave for Warangal village early next morning, following the information that the sorcerer had lost his nephew. It was about 10 am when Rewati received her Ishtdev's command. Half asleep, she muttered, "Father, I want to join the army. I have received two phone calls. I will bring name and fame to the family. Please permit me. ........But why not have you called Lal Singh yet?".

At this, Govind Singh and Digamber Singh were dispatched to bring Lal Singh.

When the family members of Bishan Singh's family appeared a bit scared, family deity spoke out through Rewati, "Last night, I had advised you not to bother about any factor that might stop you from going to Lal Singh. But you did not listen to me. Why you did not go? You must worry about your own problems and welfare first. Other things come later". The family God ordained that Lal Singh must join the army. Bishan Singh profusely apologized for the lapse. He expressed the hope that Laxman Singh could come back by 12 noon. Strangely, however, La Singh came on his own. Everybody was relieved.

Evil Man Lands Suddenly Moments later, Lal Singh sat on an 'asana' (seet) and paid obeisance to the family God. Having completed it, he had just started saying something when the Karamakori suddenly landed on the scene unannounced. He was worried about the possibility of being exposed as the person responsible for all the ills in and around Bishan Singh's family Besides Lal Singh, some 3-4 women of the village also arrived there.

Lal Singh did not want to reveal any of the secrets concerning his family deity. He merely indicated that the deity wanted his puja ceremony to be performed at the Gairad Temple located eight miles from the ashran in Dhanyan. The material required for the puja should include white cloth coconut, comb and musical instruments - Veena and flute etc. The deity assured that thereafter all problems would come to an end. All that they need to do is to remember God and the family diety and have full faith in them. Calm descended on the room.

Lal Singh was convinced that Rewati was the incarnation of th family's Isht Devata. She remained normal hardly for a day and the relapsed into her old problems. Picking up a white flower, she said, "giv me a dress as white as this, a flute, comb and a veena etc". At the sam time, she insisted that there should be no overspending.

On 31st July evening, Rewati said, "your deity is on his way t this place". Nobody could decipher this observation. However, the myster was solved when at about 7 pm one Shiv Dutt Tiwari of village Tiyunara i the same Almora district arrived. He was an ardent Devi worshipper an was known as a 'Siddh' (an ascetic of great supernatural powers). Whe Tiwariji walked upto Rewati's room, she appeared drowsy, yet she wishe him with folded hands muttering, "Your god has come here. Follow hi instructions". Shortly after, she became normal again. So much so, sh even prepared tea for Tiwariji.

A little while later, Tiwariji told members of the Rana family tha they seemed to have lost their familiar patience and courage and were thu giving bad name to the legacy of the Ranas.

Tiwariji spent the night at the place of Bishan Singh's cousin Ranjit Singh living nearby. Early morning he came back after doing his morning puja. He told the Rana family members that seemingly they were being harmed by a sadhu known as Swami Sachidanand who had been jailed after losing a court case against him.

When he had finished talking, I volunteered more information about the Sadhu.

Tiwariji told the family members that at the time of propitiating the family god they should place four 'batashas' (a preparation made of sugar), five cloves and a ready-to-eat 'paan' at the spot where Rewati had slipped. Just then, Ranjit Singh arrived. Tiwariji ceased talking.

Ranjit Singh told Tiwariji that the girl (Rewati) had caused too many problems for her father. Tiwariji replied, "Thank your stars that it's a girl. Had it been a male, things would have been more difficult. In any case, instead of worrying about them, you take care of yourself".

That night Tiwariji slept in the drawing room. But Raghubir Singh could not have a wink of sleep the whole night. Rewati had told him that since Tiwariji was always escorted by invisible body guards, some strange things might happen during the night.

Early next morning, Tiwariji told the family members, "Now your problems would be over in a short time. Some great souls as well as your family god have come to this place to bless you all. You need not worry on any score".

While going back home, he gave some instructions to Rewati. Tiwariji, the ascetic, had the divine power to tell a person about his past, present and future in detail. But his mother had taken a pledge from him not to reveal everything to a person. He must be discreet in the matter.

Rewati did not get any relief from the Isht Dev of Lal Singh her fellow disciple. So, next to be called was another ascetic, Jai Dutt, who lived in a nearby village. Jai Dutt who had acquired supernatural power through his family god 'Gwal Devata', often called Golu Devta assured that Rewati would be all right within a week's time. And truly, her condition improved. Her leg stopped quivering.

Singing of Bhajans Next day, while talking to Ranjit Singh near a window, Laxman Singl suddenly burst into singing a well known 'bhajan' (devotional song composed by Meera, great devotee of Lord Krishna. He continued witl the bhajan even as he kept moving in the house. After 15minutes Laxma Singh sat down quietly. His brother Raghuvir Singh asked him, "what wa the bhajan, you were rendering?"

"What bhajan? I was not singing any", replied Laxman Singh The onlookers were flabbergasted. Interestingly, Laxman Singh resume singing the same bhajan in the evening at the same place. Listening to th bhajans from her sick bed in the adjoining room, Rewati said prophetically "Now everything would be okay".

Raghuvir Singh's father called him and pointed out him ho Laxman Singh was standing with folded hands before Rewati as if seekin her pardon for some wrong. But the reality was that he was rendering th bhajan to negate the evil effects of three trishuls implanted at three place - near the main entrance to the house, in the farm on the periphery of th house and the third in the barren land behind the Ashram. Laxaman Sing told Rewati as follows : "You alone have to dig out the three tridents an then you will see that all your troubles would be over".

As far as I remember, Laxaman did not sing that bhajan agair Some days later, he started muttering, "recall the Mahabharta period".

On 7th Aug 1961, Rewati had the material for Pooja purchase for Rs 13/-. Her deity told her that number 13 is considered inauspiciou by many but for her it should not mean anything because the number i associated with him.

One day, Bishan Singh got late while coming back home fro the village Dasaun. Two sorcerers were lying in ambush on the way wit the aim of causing physical harm to him. Surprisingly however, he returne safely. Jai Dutt Tewari also arrived late. After dinner, began the puja c the family deities. Jai Dutt's Isht dev Gwal Devata coaxed and cajole Rewati's to retreat to his temple. Nevertheless, her family god had pu both his hands in a bronze 'thaali' and was saying that in view of the fac that she had become a source of problems for members of her parent and their family, he would better go back to his temple.

This brought forth the following reply from Rewati's deity' "look, it seems that you merely want me to retreat to my temple. But you don't know which supreme power has sent me here and why. I can go back provided you undertake the responsibility of identifying and solving all the problems confronting this family. If you can't do it, then I am going to stay here".

On Gwal Devta's assurance to take care of the family, Kalyan Bisht Devta said "I will go back to my temple". Just then Bishan Singh intervened to express his apprehensions. He said, "I am not sure whether Gwal Devta would be able to come to us at all in time of need. Moreover, he does not reside here. We may face problems".

Kalyan Devta intervened to assure and ask Bishan Singh not to worry. "Just call for me and I would be there immediately".

On 8th August, Bishan Singh went to the temple at Gairad with all the stuff meant for puja, performed it according to the prescribed rites and returned home even as it was raining.

It so happened one late night that Laxman Singh, while sitting in the other room along with others, suddenly started muttering something. A little later, he said, "I must leave now". Asked where was he heading for, he replied, "Kailash". And the Isht Devta left.

Overhearing all this, Rewati surprised those present saying, " some day, Kailashi (Lord Shiva) would also come. You must all perform 'arti' to welcome Him.

Some 3-4 days later Lord Shiva appeared at night. He declared, "I am Shiv Kailashi. I would not have come if even one person had remained alive in your family. But they were determined to eliminate you all. Remember Mahachaughan Balbrahmachari Maharaj who enabled you to build this house (Ashram). Never forget Him even for a moment. He commanded me to come here".

Addressing Rewati, He said, "You also wanted me to be here. Well, ' I have ensured salvation to your father'. What else do you need now? Now you need not call me again. Your family has all the blessings of Mahachaughan".

Turning to Bishan Singh, that embodiment of Lord Shiva said, " You are extremely fortunate to have the incarnation of the Lord in the form of your own daughter, Rewati".

The godly figure concluded saying it was now time for Him to leave for Kailash where Mahatmas and other noble souls were waiting for Him holding garlands made of grass in their hands. "Yamaraj (god of death) along with his messengers carrying iron chains are also there waiting for Me".

Asked why so, He replied, "Even I would be accountable for the promise of salvation I have made. If the record of the person concerned is satisfactory, there will be no problem otherwise one would have to bear the consequences for his acts of omission and commission".

We were told that the Gods were no exception to such rules. They also got punishments for lapses.

Lord Shiva then prepared to leave for His abode but while leaving assured that He would stay at the Dhuni at the Gorakhnath temple till all the problems at the Ashram were completely eradicated. He said He would come once again and never thereafter.

During the period, a man coming from Almora side to Dhanyan village died on the way following cardiac arrest. Rewati said he had attained Moksha (salvation). It came to be known later that the man had all the vices in him (gambling and drinking included). But he always kept chanting Shiva, Shiva'. The man always carried Rs 15 in his pocket which were dedicated to Goddess Bhagwati.

Incidentally, a sorcerer used the man's demise to do mischief in the area. At night, the sorcerer would often throw stones at houses, on people coming to the flour-mill with grain, saying the ghost of the dead man was doing it. This was how the sorcerer was scaring away the people.

The fact is that the man had attained Moksha (Salvation) because of the regular chanting of Lord Shiva's name. Had he not done it, he would have surely turned into a ghost'.

GOD's BENEVOLENCE It was Friday, 18th August 1961. Rewati's Isht Dev (family deity) disclosed that the Black Magic practitioner who had consecrated a trishul (trident) 3 years and 7 months back, was here for the past five days. It required lot of coaxing and cajoling to persuade him to come. As all his attempts to harm the Rana family had failed last time, he was requested to come to Dhanyan personally and do the required job on the spot.

Consequently, this practitioner of black magic had this time brought a five-pronged trishul and had been consecrating it for the past five days. He was accompanied by his assistant, also a sorcerer. Both had been thoroughly briefed on what and how they were supposed to do.

During these five days, the Karamakori was visiting the hydro-flour mill at mid night where he would chant a mantra while sitting in the river water. He was to be paid Rs 3500/- for the job. The man had come from Delhi at the behest of his brother.

"Having completed the consecration, the two sorcerers are today scheduled to plant the trishul nearby, so all of you must remain vigilant the whole night. But don't worry, I will be here with you when they come to plant the trishul. I will guide you on what you must do. The main sorcerer would leave tomorrow morning at 7 am for Delhi".

The Isht dev's voice continued, "The man is wearing white shoes, dhoti, shirt, a dupatta on the shoulders and a ring in a right hand finger. The sorcerer's face is pock marked. The five pronged trishul is kept in a thaali (metal plate) made of bronze which contains red and black cloth, vermilion, rice, doob (a particular grass used in ceremonies) and cow dung. Right now, I can see the sorcerers and their assistants having lighted four earthen lamps for the four directions- east, west, north and south".

Suddenly, the family deity had a big laugh saying, "look, they picked up the thaali but it turned upside down! The timing of the thaali's fall provoked me into laughing. Well, I can tell you that a sum of Rs 2500/- has been paid to the black magic practitioner and the conspirator got Rs 108/-".

At about 9 pm, the Isht devta said he would now go to the highest point in the house." But don't get scared. Should anything happen, I would come down myself". Except Govind Singh, Raghubir Singh and their father Bishan Singh, everybody else was sent to sleep. The outer room's window was kept open through which the three kept a watch on the goings on outside. The whole night one could see light by fire. Despite the Isht Dev's assurance, the night scene in the neighborhood sent chill down the spine of the outlooks.

They spent the night some how. Came down and people resumed doing the daily chores.

At night, on the second day, the Isht Dev disclosed how the two sorcerers had taken the black magic practitioner to the temple of Chitai Gwal Devata "From there, he went to my temple (Kalyan Bisht) where he blew a heavy puff of air as a tantrik ritual. Henceforth, whatever wrong he does would recoil on him", said the family deity.

The tantrik had been paid Rs 1000/- less than what was promised to him. Angry as he was, he reversed the outcome. In fact, the sorcerer made three attempts to bring the trishul to the Ashram (Bishan Singh's house). But every time, one or the other thing kept in the puja thaali would fall. Taking it as a bad omen, the idea to bring the consecrated trishul to the Ranas' house was given up.

The trident was thereafter taken out of the thaali and kept in their Isht Dev's temple where it got deeply embedded in the ground. Inquisitve people were told that it was an offering from the family. Laxman Singh's Isht Dev was also impressing upon the family members the fact that the sorcerers would not be able to cause any harm to the Rana family and there was absolutely no need to fear them. They should all have ful confidence in God (Lord Shiva) who was protecting and helping at every step.

On coming to know that the sorcerer might go back to his place early next morning, Bishan Singh and members of his family discussed the idea of attacking him with lathis on the way.

Targeted even Cows The Isht Dev, however, vetoed the idea saying the sorcerer would in any case come to know about the plan. Perhaps, they would find ou that Isht Dev Kalyan Bisht was leaking out their plans. Once again, h assured that since he was very much in their midst, there was no need to worry.

Suddenly, Isht Dev burst into laughter. He said, "Look that family eliminator (sorcerer) had thrown some consecrated rice near your milch cow". He then instructed Govind Singh to get up early in the morning and pick up the rice before the cow laps them up. "Hold the cow's tail while lifting the rice". Govind Singh was told.

The incident goes to show how the Lord comes to the aid of his devotees in times of difficulty.

Frightened, Govind Singh not only refused to pick up the consecrated rice himself but advised others also not to do so. He decreed that Rewati should collect the rice next morning. As such, Rewati, Govind Singh and their father went to the cowshed next morning where they discovered that the cow had already consumed some of the grain. When Rewati picked up the remaining rice, she received a shock. Yet, she carried the grains and put them inside the house, also known as Ashram. After lunch, she sat on a cot and even kept munching some of the rice ignoring the advice to the contrary.

Meanwhile Isht Devata arrived. Rewati told him that the rice was not the local variety. Isht Dev told her that the rice weighing over two kgs had been brought from the tarai (plains of foothills) region and were consecrated. He asked those around to put the grain found in the niche in a wall of the courtyard. He promised to reveal certain secrets at night.

As promised, Isht Dev disclosed that the sorcerer had again put some sindoor and rice grain wrapped in a piece of paper which had been inserted inside a supporting bamboo pole in the cowshed. Isht Devata instructed Rewati to bring out the concealed grains next morning. She carried out the instructions. At about 2 pm, Isht Dev prepared three tiny packets, one containing 15 grains, another having 21 and the third with only three rice grains.

He asked them to preserve the remaining grains carefully, put 15 in the box as these belonged to goddess Bhagwati. Twentyone grains should be placed before Jai Dutt's. Isht Dev on the latter's next visit. "And then wait for his response. Call me also. If Gwal Devata commits any mistake, I will catch him by his hair".

After the night set in, Isht Devata disclosed that this time, the black magic practitioner had placed a bulb of onion and some pods of garlic wrapped in a piece of cloth, in a niche in the cowshed. He promised to reveal the next day the reason for their doing so, early in the morning, Rewati brought it home and under the instructions of Isht Dev who came again, put the onion and garlic in a cup. The onion bulb was cut into four pieces, each painted with 'Sindoor' vermilion. The garlic was however in the original form.

Isht Dev asked those present "Has anybody ever seen garlic and onion treated like this? Look, this garlic bulb and the onion pieces were intended to cause maximum harm to the life and property of your big family and all your near and dear ones and well wishers. As compared to rice grain, onion and garlic have got pungent odor which carries the intended evil effects to the targeted persons much more faster and effectively.

"And don't forget that it was because of the intention to wipe out the last man in your family that Lord Shiva decided to come to your aid himself"

Isht Dev revealed that it was because of the baneful effects of al the tantrik rituals and black magic performed by these sorcerers that th wife of a distant family relation, Bhawan Singh, fell from an upper story in village Dasaun, another woman relation was having acute backache in village Chhani and another close person Chandra Singh of Karala villag got crushed under a railway engine at Dehradun. Besides, members of th extended family based in Delhi were afflicted with serious ailments and th family of Bishen Singh's sister in Karala village was going through sever hardship.

On 21st August, Isht Dev announced his intention to make sacrificial offering to God of some animal, the tantrik way. Intervening Ranjit Singh informed that the karamakori has already concreted a goa giving it the names of persons who were sought to be eliminated. On 23r Aug 1961, the sorcerers said they would have done it a day before but di not as it coincided with 13th day rituals (Terehveen) for their mother death the same day.

God had Willed Otherwise But God had willed not to allow them to have things their way. The sorcerers performed the 'Shradh' ceremony of their mother in the morning and sacrificed the goat in the night thus depriving their own mother have a place in the Heaven. Bhole Baba left for his home (Kailash) at 1 am. Family members were keen to witness the ritual of sacrificing the arrival and were discerning among themselves whether it was possible for them.

Sensing the family members anxiety Guru Gorakh Nath arrived. He scolded them for treating such serious matters so lightly. Neither any of the persons at whose behest such animals sacrifice is initiated nor any of the targeted victims should be present on such occasions and witness such rituals. Otherwise, the on looker could lose his life. In any case, the mutton of the sacrificial goat is consumed only by those who attend the ritual. At 2.20 am, Isht Dev came and informed that the goat has been readied for the ceremony. He asked all the family members to throw the consecrated rice grain towards the goat. Advising them not to go to sleep for half and hour, Isht Dev left the place. The family members went to bed at 3.30 am.

Returning to the place on 24 August 1961, the Isht Dev laughingly disclosed that another packet of consecrated material had been placed below a thick supporting log in the cowshed. Rewati took it out the next morning. Isht Dev pointed out that it contained some rice grain and ash of some burnt out bristles of the goat. He asked the family members to preserve the tiny pack. "They have completed their rituals and there is hardly anything else for them to do".

Rahghubir Singh put the items contained in the small pack in his father's box. Only the consecrated rice were not there because these had been put separately, wrapped in a piece of cloth, in a niche outside the courtyard. One day, the wife of Kulnashak (brother of Karamkori) came to borrow some condiment, stealthily took it away. On discovering that it contained consecrated rice, she abandoned it like a hot potato. This was revealed by Rewati's deity. The deity, also told Bishan Singh that he was going through a financial crisis due to lowering of milk production. And this had happened because Bishan Singh had sold out a particular cow against the wishes of his parents who should be treated like gods by their children. However Bishan Singh had his own reason; the cow would not let anybody, except Govind Singh, milk it. He sold it to a Harijan of Pithauni village for Rs 30/-.

And see, from the day one, money started flowing into his house. The Harijan built a house performed a decent marriage and procured a flock of cattle including cows and goats. His poverty turned into prosperity. Isht Dev told Bishan Singh that the cow was not only a source of prosperity but a medium of attaining Moksha as well.

When Bishan Singh tried to buy the cow back from the Harijan, Isht Dev counseled him against doing so. God had willed it that way. Any cattle that comes to the cowshed and, as a matter of fact, any human being coming to Bishan Singh's house (Asharam) and stays for a night would get freed from the cycle of rebirth and would attain Moksha.

On 24th August 1961, the family deity pointed out that the bullock, named Khera, was also eligible for attaining Moksha. From the time it entered the cowshed, the bullock had only brought good luck. The well built animal was one of the rare species. "Never sell it", ordained the Isht Dev. "But the day, the bullock dies, put flower garlands around its neck and give it a decent burial. In fact it is a 'Siddh' (realized soul) but for some reason was born a bullock. It has come to the Chaughan Ashram to seek salvation through Mahachaughan. A 'jeev' takes birth as human or as animal depending on the record of Karma but Lord Shiva gives him all protection and patronage in the Ashram. This fact can be understood only by the blessed, This is how Isht Dev brought out and highlighted the importance of the Prabhu Ashram at Dhanyan. Blessed are you Dhanyan that Lord Shiva him self chose to describe your distinct character and special place that you occupy.

GREATNESS OF BHOLE BABA

For full four hours between 10.30 pm and 2.30 am that night of 10th Sep, 1961, people kept enumerating the greatness of Mahachaughan. The audience was repeatedly reminded about his real identity and the numerous aliases and nick names given to him. Speakers pointed out that he is nameless, formless, omnipresent, all encompassing, timeless, ever present and all powerful. But the vital questions were : Why did He chose to come to Dhanyan village and the Ashram located there? What do the people of your cast think and say about Him? Some made uncharitable observations about Him and disregarded even some of His instructions. Yet, the Lord showed His blessing on the family because elders in the family had unflinching faith in the Lord. Why did Mahachaughan impel them to build their house at the place where it exists today.

Speakers told the small congregation that they were fortunate enough to have the 'Darshan' of Lord Shiva in human from, thanks to the good deals they had done in their previous birth. "Strangely, the skeptics among you refused to believe the reality of their being face to face with him. One person called Him a cheat, an imposter. Such person might suffer at the hands of the Lord who makes and unmakes people. Anyone who does not acknowledge the simple fact that all that we see around is his creation, is living in fools paradise. He keeps changing His form and this was the fourth time He appeared before us.

"Once, when he was admitted to a hospital with some affliction, you got worried about your own existence, asking yourself " What is going to be my fate now? Just then Mahachaughan had told you not to entertain such negative thoughts because he is immortal and never dies like human beings.

Several years back, a German named Neil of Cresanda, aged over 65, was in Moscow and his wife in Leningrad. One night, both had a vision of Bhagwan Haidakhan who advised them to make their life worthwhile and purposeful by settling down in India's Uttarakhand. Cresanda was an artist and a saintly person. In 1941 he arrived at a place called Kasaar Devi in Almora and started a Tapasya (ascetic fervour or practice). He prepared a statue of Shri 1008 Bhagwan Haidakhan in plaster of paris at a cost of thousands of rupees. The rare statue was kept at the house of Jeewan Chand Joshi, Manager, Nainital Bank, Almora Branch. Their was always a large number of people anxious to possess the statue. Some time back Pandit Hira Ballabh Pant of Govindpur village carried the idol to Kausani and installed it there in a temple. When Bank Manager Joshi got firm indications that Mahachaughan might change his appearance and form, he sought guidance from Him on what to do about the idol which so many people wanted to have. Just then, Shri Balbrahmchari Maharaj told Jeewan, " There are still many things, I Would like you to do. Don't give away this statue to anybody. I would be back again".

Rewati and Laxman Singh had been unconscious for quite sometime. Their father Bishen Singh, who was very much worried, nearly sobbed saying this would not have happened if Maharaj were there. Bishen Singh's elder sister, popularly known as Bhaktin Didi, consoled him and asked him to have patience. Shri 1008 Maharaj was always with him.

Bhagwan Haidakhan as a Child On 22nd August 1961, Isht Dev disclosed that at that particular time Mahachaughan was in the form of a child. He was being fostered in Haridwar and Rishikesh by members of the Nepal's Royal family. God would certainly reveal. His true identity in about 13 years time. Currently, He is taking care of us from Haridwar-Rishikesh, particularly at midnight when black magic's intensity is at its peak.

"Now you bring a bed to Mahachaughan's room, spread bedroll on it and put puja material in the room. From the day you arrange the bed, He would start visiting the place. The Lord likes flowers of all kinds. So, it would be better you grow them around the Ashram and make Him happy.

One day when Bishan Singh Rana was having his meal at dusk, Isht Dev told him through Rewati that part of what he was eating was falling into a jug, filled with water, which was kept by the Lord's bedside who was busy with his evening puja. Bishan Singh got the hint and decided that henceforth he would take food only after 7.30 pm when the Lord completes His puja.

Isht Dev told Bishen Singh that the Lord had chanted the hymn himself 1,40,00,000 times at the hut in the Shiva temple and another 40,000 times in the temple of his Ashram. Yet, Bishen Singh had not followed some of his instructions. Even though there was no dearth of finance his house-cum-Ashram was not constructed on the lines laid down by the Lord.

It may be recalled that years back, Shri 1008 Bal Brahmchari Maharaj had given a house plan to Dilip Singh, my brother and had Himself marked the places where the foundations was to be laid. He had also sufficiently indicated to Nainital Bank's manager Jeewan Chand Joshi that this year Bishen Singh Rana was constructing his house. Finding that the Lord had Himself laid the foundations, some persons wanted to build their own houses there. But as God had willed, an Ashram as well as a cowshed came up at the place, though these were not exactly according to the godly instructions.

The exalted Shri Bal Brahmchari Maharaj had wanted a three storeyed house with long corridors outside and a two storeyed cowshed. But due to financial constraints not much could be spent.

After sometime, Prabhuji came down to the place. Looking at the house, he observed, "Despite my instructions you have deviated from the house plan I had given you. You could not do this simple thing. How can you accomplish bigger things in life? The construction would have costed a total Rs 10,000/- which could have been easily available from the Nainital Bank".

Isht Dev disclosed that Prabhuji had a strong desire to stay at the place. He was of the view that sitting in the verandah, Bishen Singh's family members and others would have enjoyed the cool easterlies and the garden around. The Ashram was intended to be build at that particular place because of the location of a Bhagwati temple, a Shivalaya, a temple of Gwal Devata and Gorakhnath's Dhuni nearby. A three story Ashram would have overlooked the Shivalaya and the Dhuni. Shri Mahachaughan knew about all the adversities that were to hit the Rana family in future. In order to protect the family members, He had wanted the Ashram to be built there.

Some scepters had wanted to know if Shri Mahachaughan was an embodiment of God, why did He have to get admitted to the hospital? The fact was that He had deliberately chosen to go to the hospital to shower His blessings on the doctor who was very dedicated, du conscious, a thorough gentleman and God-fearing. It was not unusual: Him to change His form and identity to test and help out His devotees Trishul Enters Her Body On Sep 20, the spirit of the consecrated trishul (trident) enter Rewati's body. But as there is no greater magician or sorcerer than lc Shiva himself, nobody can harm His devotees. Let's not forget that L Shiva carries a trishul Himself. All that was happening was unde premeditated scheme of the Lord through which He wants the ordina mortals to understand the greatness and importance of God.

The consecrated trishul asked Raghubir Singh about the pers who constructed the house. "My father (that is, Bishan Singh)", came t reply. But Bishan Singh immediately intervened to say, "No it was r father". The trishul spirit snapped back. "All of you are wrong. None you did it. The house was constructed by He who wears peculiar atti and keeps frightening me with his strange appearance. He keeps putti spanner in my works and does not allow my schemes to succeed. But f Him, I would have eliminated every member of your family. He kee scolding me. Yes, I dread him. He prevented me from planting the trush in a corner of your house. He warned me to keep my hands off. 'it's r house. Don't come anywhere near it unless you have lost love for yo life, The mighty force repeatedly warned me. This powerful force on o side and Bhumiya Dev and Gorakhnath on the other, have put to naught my games and plans", the spirit in the trishul moaned.

When Mahraj first visited Dhanyan village, He was wearing loin-cloth (langot). It was 2 O'clock in the night. On reaching Chitai, I asked Bishan Singh to take a coconut, some flowers and 'batashas; preparation of sugar) to the temple of Gwal Devata, but if it is locke offer these at the temple's outer gate. In case the temple is open, Bish Singh should bring the bundle of stamp papers, other legal documents ar related articles. It was revealed that litigants, who lose their court case deposit their stamp papers and such other papers in the temple in the ho of getting justice from the court of God. Gwal Devata gives the loser litigan solace, a word of encouragement and makes them fearless.

Fortunately, the temple was open. Bishan Singh was able 1 fetch the entire bundle of documents Maharaj inspected them and found that in.respect of only one particular case Gwal Devata had not done absolute justice. Asked by Bishan Singh about the reason or reasons for partiality shown by Gwal Devata, Shri Maharaj said, "He is an ardent devotee of the Devata".

The Isht Devata revealed that the mystery about the legal documents called for by Mahachaughan would be known only after 20years. There is always an element of mystery and suspense in every move that is associated with Mahachaughan that takes time to unravel.

Isht Dev went on, "Once Maharaj went to your old house at 2 in the night. While sitting in the farm slope He had asked you to wake up your parents and bring them to Him. Near the water pond close to the Shivalaya, he got some digging done in which copper idols were found. Obviously, a temple must have existed there. Mahachaughan was aware of this and later had His hut built at the spot.

At a place close to the Shiv temple, now converted into a small field, Maharaj said to Bishan Singh , "Do you remember, I had taken 'Ksheer' (a preparation of rice, milk and sugar) here?" Bishan Singh replied, "yes, I do. But that was some 50-60 years back when Shri 1008 Bhagwan Haidakhan had come here one morning alongwith nine Sadhus. And my father and his elder brother had served kheer to Maharaj and the nine Sadhus accompanying him. At that time, I was only 7-8 years old".

"First, they had gone to the house of my maternal grandfather, Dr Ranjit Singh of Siron Tana village. They asked to be served purely dairy products. Dr Singh However, begged their excuse expressing his inability saying he had come home on a three-day holiday and there was no milk at home. Moreover, Almora's market was pretty far off. It was thus well nigh impossible for him to arrange the desired eatables."

An apologetic Dr Singh told them that his son-in-law lived in Dhanyan village which was only 1.5 miles away. He had sufficient quantity of milk at home and would be too happy to receive and serve them food. At this Haidakhan Baba asked him thrice, ' will he offer us kheerkhand?' "Sure", replied Dr Singh.

"Shortly after, the group reached Dhanyan where they put the same question to my father and his elder brother. They, however, served quality ksheer to the Lord and the nine sadhus accompanying him. After consuming it to their full satisfaction, Shri Haidakhan Maharaj and the Sadhus left".

Why Nine Sadhus Later, Isht Dev explained the significance of the visit of the nine saints led by Shri Bhole Baba. It was intended to free the house of the Ranas and all its inmates of a curse that had enveloped them all. The nine sadhus represented equal member of planets against whom the week days have been named like Sun, Moon, Mars, Murcury, Neptune, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu . Lord Shiva or Mahachaughan was their Master. The Lord had brought the nine sadhus representing various planets to the house to save the family out of the curse of the Bisariya. Isht Dev further revealed that the limit of the curse had been completed during the period of Bishan Singh's grand father, Karam Singh Rana. Therefore, to eliminate the effect of curse in the future, Shri Bhagwan Haidakhan had come with nine sadhus and ate kheer at your place.

Isht Dev said: some of your close relations had complained to the authorities concerned about the unauthorized construction in a portion of your house seeking its demolition. Under instructions of the Deputy Commissioner even the Patwari (a low-ranking revenue official) had arrived to pull down the structure without your knowledge. Suddenly, Shri 1008 Maharaj arrived and foiled the demolition attempt. And just when the person who had complained about the construction was to be punished for hatching the conspiracy, Bishan Singh stepped in, pleading for grant of clemency to the culprit and got him reprieve.

Bishan Singh's father Ram Singh was not a non believer but he certainly had his own reservations about Maharaj. That is why he was not very comfortable with Bishan Singh who was an ardent follower of Balbrahmchari Maharaj. However, Ram Singh was a totally transformed man after he saw Him in an imposing universal form in which the entire creation is manifest . Ram Singh turned into an ardent believer. He later told Rewati that he had seen 52 forms of the Lord and now all his misgivings had disappeared.

Isht Dev said , "Thus God granted him protection and I am sure he would take care of your uncles and other near and dear ones as well.

Lord Shiva has already deputed several Devatas to take care of this Ashram. They were all doing their assigned jobs silently while remaining invisible. Whenever, God wishes, He would appear before you in person.

Once, a sorcerer was on a death bed stricken with a serious ailment but he regained normal health when Bishan Singh lay at the Lord's feet appealing for grant of mercy to the evil man and Prabhuji had warned Bishan Singh that he was inviting trouble for himself, something he would regret some day. Shri Bhagwan had been warning him at every step but Bishan Singh never took it seriously. That is why Bhole Baba scripted the drama, summoned so many devatas to the Ashram and made His presence felt by all these around. The idea was to enable all the younger ones to experience divine leelas and reaffirm their complete faith in God.

Isht Dev further pointed out how Bhole baba had given the speech power to a sorcerer's son who was dumb and removed the poverty of Pratap Singh by sending him to Padmapuri. Harsh Singh Rana, who could not clear even his 10th standard examination, became a Major in the army with the grace of the Lord. Once Sachidanand, who knew palmistry, read the lines on Laxman Singh's palm and discussed that he was a promising individual who was set to bring fame to the Rana family at the age of 37. He would himself become a great yogi. Even though Sachidanand said he was 90 year old, he could not digest the fact he discoursed himself. He became too jealous of young Laxman's potential. Fearing that Laxman could overshadow him some day, Sachidanand used his siddhi knowledge to block Laxman's ascent. Sachidanand had turned an evil man. Instead of admitting his own misdeed, he told Laxman that some one had cast his evil influence on him.

Sachidanand had wanted to spend the night at the Ashram but Bhole Baba did not let him have any sleep. In fact, he frightened him by appearing in a different form. That night, Bhole Baba scolded him saying that even though he called himself a sadhu, it was unbecoming of him to hate others. Prabhu told Sachidanand that the same way, he would become an object of hatred and ridicule. While leaving Dhanyan, Sachidanand admitted that the sword of Damocles was hanging over his head. Isht Dev pointed out that this was how Mahachaughan had perished Sachidanand for his misdeeds.

WRATH OF BLACK MAGIC

It was the dark night of 26th August 1961. Both, Laxman Sing and his brother Govind Singh had been over powered by some evil force: One of them was shouting, "He is coming, he is coming". The other wa hysterically pointing to something saying, "Look, he is flaunting his lon beard". Rewati woke up to say that somebody was sitting on her bosor and trying to strangle her.

This went on for about an hour. Some time later, the entir Ashram was quivering. About 2 am Bishan Singh also started shouting, you bastard, get lost. I will beat you up". As a result of the commotior everybody woke up. Raghuvir Singh asked "what is the matter, father? Bishan Singh said somebody was calling for him from outside the house. ] was pitch dark outside and nothing was visible. Bishan Singh, howeve insisted that the strange voice was addressing him as 'Sarvajeet'.

Shortly after, Isht Dev arrived. He disclosed that 'Sarvajit' mear eldest and Bishan Singh was being addressed as such by none other tha the spirit of the trishul itself which was planted by the sorcerer, referred t earlier. If Bishan Singh succumbed to the evil influence, all other in th family would also be subjugated by the spirit. The Isht Dev cautioned a these present not to venture out of the house or even peep out of th window into the dark. He pointed out that even though it was a moon-li night, the darkness outside was due to the trishul effect.

Isht Dev, somehow, managed to rein in the spirit despite the fac that the latter was trying to do the same to Isht Dev. The spirit offere some allurements to Isht Dev so that he does not interfere with its nefariou plans. The exercise went on for a few days, the two sides trying to wi. over the other. Isht Dev then advised the house inmates not to forget closing the windows on the third story at night. As it opened on the western side it allowed undesirable elements to have a peep inside. But it should b opened during the daytime to receive sunlight. Following persistent effort Isht Dev finally succeeded in wooing the sprit. As a word of caution Ish Dev told the people around that if any of them finds a dog curling up nea one's bed at night, it should not be shooed away. Presence of the dog which symbolized Bhairon Baba, was a clear indication that it was there t ward off some major problem which would have otherwise surfaced.

Rewati continued to demonstrate exemplary traits. Whenever she imagined being in Delhi or at any other place, she would narrate all that was happening there as if she was present there herself.

On the night of August 30, no one in the family had a wink of sleep. Whoever tried to grab some sleep was possessed by the evil spirit. Only Raghuvir Singh was an exception. Both Laxman Singh and Govind Singh often felt like seeing strange figures neer their house and would call for attacking and driving them away. They spent the whole night sitting by the side of a bonfire to ward off the sprits.

When the family members could not take it any more, Laxman Singh invited the pujari of Sam Devata from Pithone village. The priest's Isht Devata asked Govind Singh about the purpose of his being there. When Govind Singh came closer to the Isht Dev, the latter showed him two spearheads made of iron and asked what these were. Irked by the query, Govind Singh replied, " I can eat them".

Isht Dev relented and reassured him that the spearheads were not intended to harm him. " But tell me about your identity". Govind Singh replied that he was a Muslim and had accompanied Laxam Singh right from Delhi where he had once pissed on his grave. Asked what he was expecting from others, the spirit said he wanted a suitlength and some khichri. With great difficulty, the Muslim spirit agreed to accept a metre long piece of cloth in place of suitlenght but said he would take three days to leave the place. Isht Dev however, gave him five days. But suddenly, the spirit, possessing Govind Singh said it was leaving immediately. And with that Govind Singh rushed out of the house. Others went after him and brought him back. All the matrial required for puja had been arranged. It included, among other things, 13 items like the cloth piece, some smaller pieces of cloth, incense, two earthen-wares, khichri, turmeric, salt, chilies and ready-to-chew `paans'. No problems arose thereafter.

Look, I am a Muslim September 5, 1961 : At 10 pm Laxman Singh who was sitting on a cot, suddenly spoke out. "Look, I am a Muslim. Telll me whether or not you are going to offer to me all those listed items". He was assured that all preparations had been made for the puja which would be performed the next day.

Asked about the purpose of his coming, the spirit surprise everybody saying that he had been staying in the area for quite a fev years. He had come to attain salvation at a place which was the abode o Bhole Baba and Devtas. Having visited the pious place he was happy tha he would now attain Moksha. The spirit said that he had not come wit any intention to cause any harm to any body. He said he would now stay i the village till he attains moksha but would never go to Laxman Singh' house.

On Sept 9 and 10, 1961, Rewati's condition took a turn for th worse. She stopped taking any food and was behaving like a schizophrenic talking incoherently. Her mouth wide open she would keep moving shouting "I will kill this person, I would eat up that person" as if she would reall swallow them live.

On 10th Sept, Isht Dev appeared at 10 pm to disclose that karmapishachie(Sorcerer) had appointed a pandit (priest) who wa constantly chanting in his temple hymns for the past five days with th intention of eliminating 13 offspring of the Rana family. "But don't worry, have negated all his attempts. Now everybody is safe", Isht reassurec Rewati had developed five bowls in her head. Isht Dev said thes represented the five coconuts that were offered in the temple by the sorcere as part of the puja. But there was no need for any medication as thes would subside on their own and Rewati would be all right soon.

On 11th Sept 1961, Bishan Singh left for Almora to appris Jeewan Chand Joshi of all that had happened and to persuade him to writ to Jagannath Pandey at Haldwani to trace out that sorcerer. Howeve after he had left, Rewati sighted some ghostly figure at night in the courtyar It commanded her to change her attire which was tailored at a place calle "Chitai" in the midst of some tantric practices. Rawati followed the instructio and was back to normal health.

It was 13th Sept. Rewati took her she buffalos and their calve for, grazing behind the gaushala. Suddenly, a buffalo's hind leg got swolle and it was unable to move. On seeing two practitioners of black magi sitting near by, she requested them to do something about the mute animal problem. One of the men said it was a sprain but he did not touch it.

A nervous Rewati prayed to her Isht Dev for help. The she buffal was some how taken to the cowshed and by the evening, the sprain, a creation of the sorcerer, was gone.

Next day, when Rawati went to the goushala (cowshed) she fell into the field below as if somebody had pushed her down. Lot of `Bichhoo ghaas' (a kind of weed that gives you a feeling of having been stung by a scorpion ) grows in the field but Rewati was unaffected. She struggled to get up but fell again with great force. A voice announced. "I would throw her onto the roof and from there into the courtyard". However, that did not happen. Himmat Singh's wife counseled Rewati not to move out of her house to avert such incidents. She unleashed a cow and brought to the Ashram when Bhagwati mata appeared before her and warned, "Some strange thing may happen at your house. But don't panic".

The same evening Bishan Singh virtually limped back home from Almora running high fever. In Almora, Jeewan Chandra Joshi advised him to go to Nainital and meet an 18 year old girl who had been endowed by Mata Bhagwati with powers to cure diseases and solve problems. Bishan Singh and Kedar Dutt replied that they need not go to Nainital as they get all possible help from their Isht Dev.

As they were talking, Govind Singh fell with a thud in the Ashram's centrally located room and fainted. On regaining consciousness, he said he had been kicked and pushed by somebody. Govind Singh said he was told by a strange voice. "you have not given to your aunt the customary money you were supposed to give in connection with a ritual performed at the time of death of your grand mother. Now you must send a sum of Rs 14 by post to Padam Singh, resident of Padampuri, stating on the money order coupon what it was about.

Mysterious Phenomena On 14th October 1961, came Rewati's Isht Dev who explained some of the mysterious basic facts and phenomena. I am mentioning some of these from memory.

Isht Dev said, "Look, every dead person's next incarnation is decided on the basis of his deeds in his previous life. There are three ponds, one filled with blood, another having pus and the third filled with water. Evil persons like the practitioners of black magic have to take a dip in the pus filled pond. They are reborn as some insect. The person with a clean record takes bath in the pond full of water. The practice of a dying man giving a cow in alms is intended to enable him to cross the blood-filled pond with the help of the cow. That's why gifting of cow before death and even otherwise is a must for every Hindu.

"A couple of months before your parents are set to leave this world, you will see me in your dream. I would want all the brothers and your sister to assemble at your house and fulfill all the wishes of your parents. According to a popular belief, the parents should ideally have three sons and a daughter. Two of the brothers carry the bier with two other men and the third brother carries a source of fire contained in a pitcher in front of the bier. It is believed that the wails of the dead person's daughter attract the attention of God who calls for the deceased to give peace to the departed soul. Jeewan Chand Joshi was also blessed with a son and a daughter by Mahachaughan.

"The balls of kneaded wheat flour (pind) which are placed alongside the body on the bier, should be prepared with milk, not water.

Isht Dev continued to reel out more tips and information on Hindu customs, spirituals and practices. These were as follows :- "On auspicious occasions like the sacred thread ceremony and marriages, the presence of both the parents is necessary. While the barber tonsures the head before the sacred thread ceremony, the boy's mother holds a coconut in cloth over his head as a token of protection. The act is meaningful. It should not be taken lightly".

"The two names given to Bishen Singh's sons Govind Singh and Laxman Singh are inimical to each other. In future, avoid these".

"The first of the 'roti' (Indian bread) baked in the house should be earmarked for the cow".

The last 'roti' you bake should be thick and a portion of it should be offered to fire as a token of gratitude to Agni Devata (Fire god)".

"Never wear a saree or dhoti not having lining on the sides and don't wear a black cloth".

"A house should not be dwarfed by the house on its west".

"A married woman should neither go to her parents' house nor come from there on a Thursday". If per chance, she reaches her in-laws' place on a Thursday, she should not meet her husband".

"Do not urinate while standing".

"Water should be offered to the Sun early in the morning".

"People who consume cucumber on the Makar Sankranti day together will surely meet even after death".

"Before dying, the mother of the sorcerer advised Govind Singh, " Let bygone be gone. Now you must all live together in perfect harmony". Nevertheless, the messengers of Yamaraj brought her own memories back. She started narrating the misdeeds of Kulnashak (Sorcerer who is supposed to eliminate people) and said he would for sure face severe consequences for all his actions.

Inaccurate horoscopes Isht Dev further revealed that all the horoscopes of the family members were inaccurate and needed to be corrected by Acharya Prem Ballabh Tripathi in Varanasi. Pointing out that he could foresee short life of five offspring in Delhi, he advised that tragedies could be averted through a seven day long propitiation of Lord Shiva by Pandit Madhusudhan Shastri of village Virat in district Almora who was the official astrologer of the former princely state of Jaipur. He should be paid whatever he demands. Both Laxman Singh and Rewati should be present on the occasion. The Shiva pujan should take place in the summers of 1962 after which Bishan Singh and his brother Chandra Singh should go to Varanasi and donate a cow.

Isht Dev maintained that there was no need for anybody to worry because he would remain there as long as their wishes are not fulfilled. Girls, he said, should be enabled to pursue their school/college studies as long as they desire. According to him, after death a married woman's head "goes" to her parents' place while the rest of the body remains at her in-laws' place.

On the night of 18th Sep 1961, Isht Dev revealed that the conspiring black magic practitioner had again started, a seven day-long non-stop chant to cause harm to Rewati and her husband. Of these, three days' exercise was intended for Rewati while the remaining four days were directed towards her husband. However, Rewati would brave the ordeal, if any, all by herself and she need not be administered any treatment or medicine, said Isht Dev. On 19th Sept night he said he would send the spirit of black magic practitioner the next day. He need not be feared. He would tell all. "As for me, if he asks me to leave I would not go and I would leave if he wants me to stay on" Isht Dev added.

In the daytime of 20th Sept 1961, Rewati was taking her lunch outside the house when she started saying, " I will eat up all of you the same way". Having finished her meal, Rewati washed her hands.

Then the spirit of Trishul (trident) appeared as foretold by Isht Dev. For about half-an-hour a discussion went on whether it was Isht Dev himself or someone else. The trishul, however, clarified itself saying, "I am your same old enemy, the black magic performer, the trishul. I am here to eliminate all the 22 persons in your family. But my plans are being scuttled by that person".

"Who?" he was asked.

"The same person who got this house constructed", was the reply.

But this house was built by our father", said Raghubir Singh.

The trishul shot back, "No. You are all wrong. The house was built by He who reprimands me with His stick and often appears wearing the typical hilly cap of a loin cloth. On Tuesday night, they wanted to plant me in the ground in a corner near your house. But a voice from the Bhumiya temple asked me to desist from doing so and told me that all of you are ardent devotees of Bhumiya Dev. The voice warned me of serious consequences if I was planted. The plan was foiled. So, in the second attempt I was thrust into a wall of your house, my three prongs facing the Bhumiya temple".

Initially the one in white turban, He said to me, "You are my elder brother". He kept saying that and made me agree to him. He told me that if I do not act as per Him, He won't let my wishes full fill". Since I got into an agreement with him, he says that he is my elder brother and I am his younger one. Throughout he is with me. He deputes all the deities to keep a watch on me as and when He goes somewhere. One more 'Latua' (village leity) has come these days who always remains with me. Munkata (headless) comes here everyday. Munkata had lot of animals giving milk. He promised me to serve kheer. But now, he brought his powerful bull 'Janua' to fight against me. Trident revealed, three months are left for me to leave. Your Guru would come and throw me out. Thay all are trying to throw me out. Trident revealed, There are two more trident one each in the ield and on top of the roof. The one in field has no power left and the one on top of the roof is left with negligible power. Rs 1500/- and Rs 8000/- were spent respectively on the two ridents. It was done by a black magician practitioner from Bengal. The trishul went on, "In fact, another of my type, a five-pronged one, was also to arrive but was not allowed". Thus, so many secrets of vital importance were revealed for the benefit of the family. The trishul confessed that it was responsible for creating all the problems at the Ashram and for the rest of the family members in Delhi. It pointed out how it forced Rewati's brothers to rush to Dhanyan and how it caused some of the cattle to perish. The trident spirit said presently it possessed Rs six lakh and whenever money was needed it would resort to use of black magic. At this stage, Bishan Singh asked the spirit whether or not it wanted Moksha. Came the reply, "Why not? Who would not want to be re-born and lead a noble life? But can I attain Moksha?" "Why not?" said Bishan Singh and advised Trishul to recite "Shiv Om". The spirit repeatedly recited the chant and kept asking whether it could really attain Moksha. More reassurances and it went back promising that henceforth the Karmakori (Sorcerer) would face only failures in its objectives. And all Black magic will have adverse affect. The trishul spirit went away but soon after Rewati let out a big shriek just the way she had done it when confronted with the first trishul.

Prabhu Saved She-buffalo One night, Isht Dev suddenly gave out a big smile saying he was bringing water in a pot for Kangali's she-buffalo which had developed some complication while delivering a calf. Since then, it was not yielding any milk. The pot overturned inadvertently spilling over the water. A day before his buffalo gave birth to the calf, Kangali had planned to bring water from the cremation ground and after consecrating he wanted to sprinkle it in all the four corners of the Ashram, obviously to put the building and all its inmates under the spell of black magic. However, the plan failed as Kangali's wife was bitten by a snake and was confined to bed for a week. Kulkalanki fell over a hearth getting burns on his body. Remember, all this happened with the grace of Bhole Baba.

Sept 26, 1961: Rewati, Raghuvir Singh and some others were working in a field across the river. At about 11 am Kulnashak (sorcerer) was ploughing his field at some distance. The urge for smoking impelled him to go to another farmer working on his land, some 3-4 fields away. Just then, an 8-10 feet long black cobra emerged from nowhere and approached the bullocks. Before it could attack the quadruped, Kulnashak spotted the reptile. Crossing two low walls in one lap he rushed towards the cobra, picked it up by its tail, swung it in the air and with great force dashed it to the ground killing it instantly. The sorcerer showed the dead reptile to Rewati before he flung it into the river. By then Raghuvir Singh was trying to snatch a cat's nap. Rewati tried to jolt him out of the snooze but she desisted when warned by some invisible force against doing so From that time, there was a perceptible change in Rewati's temperament For no reason she lost temper on Govind Singh who happened to come there. A drizzle brought them all home.

Both Rewati and her brother Govind Singh had their lunch and were resting when Rawati suddenly got up and rushed out. Standing in the outer (drawing) room, she was intently looking outside. On asking, she disclosed that the Isht Dev had told her that it was he who had sent the cobra to kill the bullocks. The casualty of the bullocks would have rendered the Kulnashak (soecerer) insane or even killed him. "But that was not to happen. The Kulnashak was too powerful because of the black magic that he performed", Isht Dev told her. He added, "By Killing the snake Kulnashak had not done the right thing and will have to face grave cousequences. He deliberately showed the ghostly cobra to you and then fling it into the river so that under its evil influence you also take a plunge into the river. Kulnashak did not know that you are always under my protection". Isht Dev revealed that an arrow shot in the night mercifully hit a dog and did not cause any other damage.

Earlier, Rewati saw in the night lightning striking a sleeping dog which was badly wounded. It just could not move. A suggestion that a Karampishachi (black magic practitioner) be called to help the dog out of its trauma was vetoed by isht Dev. He said the dog should not be given anything to eat for a few days and it would come back to its normal health in 9-10 days.

The same night, Isht Dev advised family members staying in Delhi to make it a point to visit their both places at least once a year. Another advice was against entertaining any idea to sell the family property at Dhanyan.

Isht Dev further advised the Rana family members to construct a 13 room house in Delhi and another house having seven rooms in Nainital. And always remember Bhole Baba. Isht Dev told Raghuvir Singh that Tara and Leela would be married off in families that would be higher in status than Rewati's.

Philosophically he said the biggest house is one where lord Shiva and Nandi, his mount exist in the centre in a clean and holy atmosphere. Isht Dev told them that Yashpal Singh Rana's luck would be linked with that of others till he attains the age of 18. Thereafter, Yashpal's own favourable stars would come into play and shower their blessings on him. His stars would guide the destiny of all other She Saw Grandma's Spirit 27th Sept 1961: Rewati told her father that she could see the spirit of her late grandmother sitting near the window. She (grandmother) was questioning the wisdom of marrying off Rawati at the age of 17. Grandma pointed out that such major events like marriage should not take place at the age of 17 or 20. The wrong action had left permanent scar on her right cheek which would neutralize any possible ill effects.

The same night Raghuvir Singh also "saw" Grandma telling him about how the soul leaves the body causing the person's death. It is in the form of a long vapor-like white streak moving upwards in the sky. This phenomenon was witnessed on the day the fortnight-long 'Shraddh' period (ceremonies to remember and honour the deceased relatives) began. On the last day of the Shraddh Grandma asked Rewati to assure her father Bishan Singh not to worry about any thing. She was watching them all. The family members should always pray to Bal Brahmachari Bhagwan and burn incence.

In the afternoon, Govind Singh disclosed that Ma Bhagwati would appear that night. At night a composed Rewati told the people around her "I am Bhagwati". The atmosphere was electrified and charged with religious fervour. Almost in unison, all these present said. "O Goddess. How fortunate we are to have you right in our midst!" An arti was performed of Ma Bhagwati.

Through Rewati the goddess revealed that she was visiting the temple inside the house evry day to have `darshan' of Mahachaughan. Her own temple was located a little above the Ashram. She revealed that Mahachaughan was present in the temple for the past few months but nobody could see him with human eyes. On Amavasya day, when she is taken out in a procession to the accompaniment of drum-beats and other music, Govind Singh could see them from the Ashram's verandah. "If you don't feel scared you could touch my palanquin. But remember if you really get scared, ghosts and evil spirits would finish you and even I would not know. But even they are kind to people who build my temple. Take the example of Himmat Singh who constructed a temple for me and whose two sons are well off today".

The goddess pointed out that once the Kulnashak (sorcerer) made a Harijan, (member of a caste supposed to do menial jobs) stay in her temple. This violated the sanctity of the place.

Someone in the Rana family could not resist the temptation o asking the Goddess the reason for discriminating against the Harijan wher all humans, irrespective of caste or creed, enjoy equal status in the eyes o God. Ma Bhagwati replied through Rewati that while Gods made n distinction between man and man, a person's deeds, social rules an regulations and discipline imposed by religion, determine his status an destiny.

Next, Rewati commanded her father Bishan Singh to make a: offering of a red-colour saree, bindi, roli etc at Ma Bhagwati's templ uring Navratras. A little later, Rewati informed that the Goddess was reparing to leave. Wearing a beautiful ghaghra and a red dupatta, Ma hagwati was dancing merrily, near Her own temple. After, Rewati would eliver a running commentary on the movements of the Goddess. "Look, he has come to the Ashram to have a glimpse of Mahachaughan and is resently dancing before Him ....... Now, She is going to bid adieu to Mahachaughan".

Thus, Ma Bhagwati would often come to the rescue of Rewati nd solve her problems before going back. She would perform some `leela' or the benefit of humanity and make Her devotees eulogies them.

One day, Raghuvir Singh and his sister Rewati were returning home from their field carrying loads of farm produce on their head. In a casual manner, Rewati said to her brother, "Do you see that sadhu going in ront of us?" Raghuvir Singh replied", Must be Bhola Nath (Ganga Nath) Devata. On reaching home, Rewati dumped her headload, but in the rocess experienced convulsion in her neck muscles. Massaging did not help. She pointed out that the sadhu was now sitting in the outer room. While the family was having dinner, Rawati distributed 'Kheer' as Bhola Nath's prasadam. Only Laxman Singh had not taken it.

Rewati asked Laxman Singh who the sadhu was. Laxman Singh, however did not answer. Moments later, The Sadhu's soul entered Rewati's body. He said, "You people left me alone in your outer room unattended and you thought I would go away without collecting my `dakshina'(offering)!"

Angry Soul of a Sadhu The sadhu then told Rewati's mother, "And you wanted to make me feel happy only by lighting incense !" Raghuvir Singh was the next target of his ire. He begged pardon of the Sadhu for any lapses. Raghuvir Singh lamented that the Rana family was facing heavy odds from certain undesirable elements. Yet instead of being harsh on them, ' Sadhu was seeking to take the Rana family members to task. Was it not unjust and unfair? The Sadhu's soul advised the listeners to burn incense in his temple during the Navaratras. He assured Raghuvir Singh that his future was bright and he need not worry. The sadhu disclosed that Bholanath Devata, Kalyan Bisht, Bhagwati, and he himself were regularly visiting the Ashram at midnight. Mahachaughan had directed all the village deities and other god to take care of the Rana family. Having conveyed all this, the Sadhu tool leave and left. Rewati came back to her own form and began describing how the Sadhu in saffron robes was going down the Ashrams stairs an had gone inside the Gorakhanth dhuni (fire place).

On 2nd October, Laxman Singh's Isht Dev arrived to say tha Narendra, his brother in Delhi, won't live for long. He suggested that instea of bringing Gangawater, Laxman should bring some water from the pon located in the Swarg Ashram of 1008 Brahmchari Maharaj because i was as good as Gangajal. He should remember Shri Maharaj whil collecting water, put four grains of 'saunf' (aniseeds) and some rose wate and give four drops of the sacred water to Narendra. Should he refuse t take it, the four drops should be placed on a papaya leaf and applied o the forehead of Narendra.

The Isht Dev further revealed that Karamakori had offered bras bells and trishul in Gwal Devata's temple. Sorcerer Buxwari (Buxas ar the tribes from Buxwar located in the tarai region of Kumaon and Gharwal had given him a Trishul which would undo any attempt to weaken th powers of the trident itself. So if the trishul is sought to be rendere ineffective, sound all the bells. Specially the largest one, should be soundec That may even destroy the consecrated trishul. But sounding of the bell was a must, otherwise there could be undesirable consequences. At th same time, Prasad should be offered at other temples on the way.

At this point of time, Rewati noticed the same old deity she ha seen at her in-laws place. Dressed in a blue serge suit and a pagri on hi head, he climbed up the boundary wall of a field and sat there with the hel of his familiar walking stick. The old man told Rewati that five bowls c rice had been sent from her house to Gorakhnath temple to be offered a 'prasad'. One bowlful was meant for the Brahmin, the second one fo urchins and the remaining three were to be consumed by her famil members. He told Rewati that she had always desired to see him an wondered what he looked like. Now he was standing in person befor her. He recalled that earlier one day he had gone to her in-laws' plac solely to meet her but some how she could not place him.

The old man advised Rewati never to forget Har Dutt Ji an GURU GORAKHNATH DHUNI Bhaktini (Sister of Rewati's father). While Bhaktini had contributed to the well-being of the Rana family, Har Dutt, a good Brahmin, had performed continuous puja in the Rana's residence-cum-Ashram. He wondered why her family pandits had not told her (Rewati) that her husband had a short life. The old man advised her to arrange a 'paath' (recitation in praise of god for her father as well as her husband every month in the temples of Lord Shiva, Ma Bhagwati and Gorakhnath. Other instructions, he said, would follow, He told Rewati, "Look, you also had a short life but you were born in a house which is my Ashram. So, leave all your worries to me and be cheerful always".

He cited from Srimad Bhagvad Gita where Lord Krishna says that materialism is the main cause of man's worries and all other ills. All these disappear when man dedicates himself totally to God.

The figure in the blue suit continued, "I am keeping constant watch on every thing. Your father Bishan Singh believes I am dead because I had said so during my transformation. But he had forgotten the reality due to his ignorance. I am present in the Ashram all the time, but nobody can see me with human eyes. I may be invisible, but I am trying to solve problems. I would appear at the appropriate time when the world would be able to see me in person"

The Lord further told Rewati that Bishan Singh was facing problems because he did not always heed his instructions and warnings which were invariably given every now and then. He underscored the print that everybody in the Rana family should unfailingly repose his or her absolute loyalty and faith in Bhole Baba and remember the Isht Dev.

Standing with folded hands, Rewati reiterated that she would never forget Mahachaughan i.e Bhole Baba for a moment hereupon. He commanded Rewati to ask for anything she wanted. Overwhelmed, she humbly submitted that all that she wanted was freedom from any hardship and welfare for all. God personified blessed her saying "Don't worry. Everything will be all right. I will come again to your house-cum-Ashram to meet some one"

Having said it, He got up and directed Rewati also to go. She put the load of grass on her head and followed her master up to the river bank. The godly figure told her "Now your brother has come to take care of you". With that He disappeared. Rewati saw her brother Raghuvir Singh and others coming towards her. The satisfaction and happiness of having been face to face with God could clearly be seen on Rewati's face.

ISHT DEV CONVEYS LORD SHIVA'S COMMANDS

On the night of Saturday, Oct 14, 1961, Isht Dev revealed through Rewati that some bad guys had gifted two hanging bells to this temple. While one was donated on the day a trishul was pitched at her house, the other was offered at the temple on 9th October. Isht Dev directed Raghuvir Singh to ring the two bells first when he leaves for Delhi and again when he brings sorcerer Buxwari. That would end all negative effects. This is one instance to show how the Lord takes care of His devotees.

On the night of 20th October, Isht Dev ordered for procuring two spools of white thread from Almora for stitching at least one garment for each of the five offspring who were supposed to have a short life span. Isht Dev promised to disclose the secret behind it when the entire family comes to the Ashram. Till then, none of the children should be allowed to move out of their house.

Vibhuti (sacred ash) from Gorakhnath's smoke fire should be applied on the forehead of all family members in Delhi. Besides, five flower from Gorakhnath temple should be offered at Chitai Gwal Devata's temple.

Some mischievous elements were in collusion with postal staff opening and reading or even pinching away letters ment for the Ashram. In view of such a state of affairs Isht Dev suggested that nothing of the sort would happen if one remembered Mahachaughan while dripping the letters in the mail box. Isht Dev advised them all not to show any mercy to anybody. Doing important jobs on Saturday would be beneficial and ensure delivery of mail at the right place.

On 6th September, not only threads were found tied on a she buffalo and its calf, some vermilion and rice grains were found on the buffalo. Due to their evil effect, the mother animal stopped delivering milk and the calf fell sick and later died. Isht Dev pointed out that for the past three days one of the three evil men was regularly coming to the cowshed surreptitiously and tying the thread and sprinkling the red powder and rice grains on the cattle.

Isht Dev told the family members that they should treat it as beginning of new life when all their outstanding problems are solved by the grace of the Lord. And from that time they should let bygone be gone.

On 15th January 1962, Isht Dev told Bishan Singh that their savior would be the person who would read his pulse and tell everything with inspiration derived from Shri Bhole Baba. He would accomplish all the tasks for the family. Under instructions, Bishan Singh went to Haldwani to meet Pandit Jagannath Pandey in search of the person indicated by Isht Dev. With the help of a retired inspector of police, Bishan Singh discovered Maulana Liaqat Hussain of Sultanpur village. The Maulana checked the pulse of Bishan Singh and asked him to return to his home village Dhanyan. The Maulana said he had summoned the evil men. He asked Bishan Singh to come again to him after 12 days. On reaching home, Bishan Singh found it was peaceful. Bishan Singh knew that Maulvi Liaquat Hussain was only the medium of Shri Mahachaughan's benevolence.

Maulavi's Help Sought Twelve days later, precisely on 7th Febuary, Bishan Singh along with the retired police inspector met the Maulvi who sought 40 days' time to end all obstacles. Liaquat Hussain said as part of the several rituals he would have to go to the river every night for a two-hour chant (jap). Bishan Singh should send him a reply paid post card giving daily report on the state of affairs at his place . Thus, Maulana Liaqat Hussain took up for himself the responsibility of removing the Rana family's ills which he said he would do selflessly without charging anything for now. He said after completing 'chaliya', the 40 day ritual, he would visit the Ashram himself when he could accept anything from Rs 5/- onwards.

On 22nd February 1962 (myself) Chandra Singh and Bishan Singh, accompanied by the retired police Inspector, met Maulana Hussain and apprised him of all that was happening in Delhi. This prompted the Maulvi, to recite something and depute his guard to "bring" the evil men from 26, Pusa institute, Delhi. Within 10 minutes, the Maulana was shown a man and a woman encased in a small carton having a glass window. Both belonged to Dhanyan village. Since then complete peace prevailed at the Ranas' house in Delhi. He gave to the family a sheet of glass inscribed with some 'mantra' written in ink which he said should be seen by everybody in the family. He also handed over them small paper slips on which was written some 'mantra'. These were to be worn on upper and lower limbs by persons suffering from pain. The Maulvi saked them to take these off after three days and give the aching limbs a fomentation with the smoke created by burning dry layers of onion or heeng (asafetida) It must be acknowledged that after doing the exercise, all the problems came to an end.

The Maulvi sent his greetings and one cardamom to Rewati. The Isht Dev said the Maulana was no less than an Isht Dev because he was selflessly serving the sick and the needy. He did not expect any money for his services and accepted whatever was given to him as a token of affection. He was earning his livelihood by selling medicines and never misused his knowledge to harm any person. As a matter of fact, the Maulana deserved Moksha, He should be enabled to visit Dhanyan Ashram as well as the house of the Ranas in Delhi.

On 22nd February 1962, soon after my self, Chandra Singh had returned, after meeting the Maulvi, Shri Kailashi (Bhole Baba) appeared at night as promised. He had assured to visit the family members at least once after their problems were over. Having accomplished the job it was now time for him to go back to his abode. He advised to have full faith in Bhole Baba. But on insistence, Bhagwan Kailashi stayed on for some time when I, Chandra Singh wanted to know why he was not eliminating all those trouble-creating evil men. Replied Bhagwan Shri Kailashi (Bhole Baba) "No. All human beings are equal before me. But every individual would reap what he sows". At 4 am, Bhagwan Shakar left for Kailash but not before telling Chandra Singh to keep in touch with deity Kalyan Bisht whom he had asked to take care of his followers.

At about 2 O'clock the same night before Bhagwan Kailashi came, Kalyan Bisht had disclosed that the Maulvi had completed fortnight long chanting of the 40 day chaliya (Penance). This would bring peace and remove the curse of early demise on some persons.

The same night when they were all sitting in the drawing room, they heard somebody shouting, "Karamkori, you evil man, you let eagles feast on my body. Rember, you will also meet the same fate. Despite Isht Dev's clear instructions, you have not gone to Kashi. Instead, you are going to Haridwar, in the month of December and January during the inauspicious period.

When Soul Sought Revenge It came to be known later that the Karamkori had not treated his aunt well during her lifetime. After her death, he did not perform all the necessary rituals according to the prescribed procedure and tradition. The woman's spirit had turned evil and was out to punish her nephew for the lapses committed in respect of her last rites. Gwal Devata advised the man to donate a cow and a tiny gold image of his aunt at Haridwar as the price to buy peace. He undoubtedly went to Haridwar but did not do either and on return lied to others that he had carried out the instructions Moreover, he should not have gone to Haridwar, the centre of pilgrimage when his wife was pregnant. Pilgrimage is forbidden for a person whose spouse is in family way. That being a major lapse, his entire family runs the risk of getting eliminated in 15 years' time, warned Isht Dev adding that he had warned the man several times but he did not heed it . Wrong Deeds cannot give good health for long life.

By now when peace seemed to have returned, Isht Dev directed that a house in Delhi should be built within seven years. While coming to Dhanyan for the 'jap' (continuous chanting of mantra) in summers, somebody should bring from Delhi a good quality costly carpet. At the time of laying the foundation, the same carpet should be spread at the site with a portrait of Mahachaughan (Shri Bhagwan Haidakhan in the form of kanchhopi topi) on it and puja and 'havan' performed. Isht Dev advised that no Brahmin need be invited. "Just recall Hari Dutt ji and Bal Brahmachari Maharaj, Heera Ballabh Pant and 1008 Mahachaughan will personally appear to bless you all. Call your house 'Mahachaughan Ashram' and thus keep recounting His name. That way, Lord Shiva would take care of you all through me".

The Isht Dev further said that like the Dhanyan Ashram, the Ashram in Delhi should also have 13 rooms. A big mirror be brought from Delhi and hung in the outer room of the Dhanyan Ashram. All these coming from Delhi for the jap should be asked to look into it. The mirror would catch the attention of Mahachaughan also. Isht Dev directed that a traditional lamp made of copper be lit at the 'Dhuni' ( ascetic's smoke fire) at the Ashram.

On 17th March 1962, myself, Raghuvir Singh and the Maulana reached Chitai at 4.30 pm. As advised by Kalyan Bisht (Isht Dev), all of us rang the hanging bells in Gwal Devta's temple. On inquiring the Maulana was introduced as an agriculture inspector who was supposed to show a farm to all the visitors. On reaching home, the Maulana asked Rewati howfar I had to trek to do the jap. "Seven Miles" she replied.

After the dinner, Maulana started his program of action. First he hammered four nails in the ground in the four corners of the Ashram as a safeguard for the future. At 2 am he started reading everybody's pulse. Handing a tiny paper packet to Rewati, he advised her to burn some dry onion layers and 'heeng' (asafetida) and 'bathe' her body in the rising smoke. "Further, give two breads a coating of ghee and sugar. Lie down with your head towards the west. Sway the breads seven times over your head and then place them at some road crossing. Do the same on Laxman Singh with an egg and then apply some turmeric powder and sindoor on his forehead".

For Govind Singh, his advice was. "Swing some henna leaves over your head and put them at the river bank. Give food to some poor and a chicken and some aniseed to a beggar". Some medicines were also presented for Govind Singh.

In the meantime, Isht Dev arrived. He acknowledge that all the problems were solved because of the Maulana. And now that they had rung all the bells in the temples of Gwal Devata and Kalyan Bisht, none of the evil persons would be able to cause any harm. Isht Dev said he had seen the eldest son of the bad man jumping across the courtyard's wall. He had been coming for the past three days to find out about all that was going on in and around the Ashram.

Shiva Deputed Maulana The Maulana gave Isht Dev five cardamoms which the latter offered at five temples and also arranged 'paath' (recitation). Isht Dev pointed out that Bhole Baba had wanted certain things to be done through the Maulana as the medium. Bhole baba had assigned various tasks to different persons. The family members had been forbidden from moving about singly or go along with any of their known foes. The baddies had hidden an axe in bigger field along the river. A loner could be slaughtered and his or her body thrown into the river. The Isht Dev directed that the axe be dug out in April.

It was 19th March 1962. Time 10 pm Govind Singh suddenly rushed out. Others followed him. He circumambulated around the Ashram five time and kicked every corner thrice. His dog was following him Finally, he came to the spot where a trishul had been planted in a wall some four years back. Govind Singh pounded this place as well. He climbed up the roof with the help of a ladder. Picking up one of the stones he said a consecrated trishul, was dug in sand 12 years ago but now it does not exist. The job was done by Nagina, a Bengali practitioner of black magic. Govind Singh returned to the drawing room and sat in a pensive mood. On questioning , he said he had rushed out after he was asked thrice to do so.

The same night, Isht Dev pointed out that nobody in the village was clean and pure at heart, so none of them could be trusted. Some of those you thought were with you, were , in fact, your enemies. Beware of such elements.

The Isht Dev then told them to get the Ashram painted in white and green should somebody ask you , just say the occasion is the coming festival of Holi. And remember to lay the bed for shri Mahachaughan yourself before requesting him to visit you all for 'darshan' on Tuesday. This was done.

On 20th March 1962 Just when the family was waiting to perform 'aarti' of the Lord, one of the evil men and some villagers came to play Holi. After they left, Rewati was sore that the baddy would invariably come on a solemn occasion like this. In order to welcome Shri Mahachaughan, some dry fruits and 'bel patra' (leaves of the bel tree, a favorite of the Lord Shiva) were placed on the laid out bed and aarti performed.

At night, Isht Dev revealed that Mahachaughan was sitting on the bed, His feet dangling downwards. He had put his headgear in the window. Isht told the Rana family that henceforth nobody need to worry about anything because Mahachaughan would invariably come personally whenever the family faced any problem.

Isht Dev told Rewati that Mahachaughan was looking for drinking water. Rewati brought it and placed it near the bed. Isht Dev then conveyed the Lord's instructions. Four-five days after her uncle Chandra Singh returned to Delhi, Mahachaughan's bed should be rolled up. The Maulana should be gifted only four items, nothing less, nothing more. A walking stick should be presented to him but no money need be given.

According to Isht Dev, Mahachaughan did not want to be discussed with Jeewan Chandra as He was presently invisible. When He comes in human form, He would help out Jeewan Chandra. Before leaving, Mahachaughan directed that Heera may be called from Kausani when the jaap (recitation of hymns) takes place. After giving this instruction, Bhole Baba disappeared. From that day onwards, a vessel full of drinking water was invariably placed near the bed.

Bid to Harm even Buffalo On 23rd February 1962, Rewati's mother tried to milk a she buffalo but it did not yield any milk even after two-three attempts. She said she had dumped lot of grass and weed outside the bolted doors of the cowshed to insulate the cattle against the cold weather. But on finding the grass away from where it was placed, it was quite natural to suspect the role of some mischievous elements. The buffalo was feeling uneasy, yet it want yield milk . Considerable time was lost in the attempts to milk it.

In the meantime, Isht Dev arrived. He informed that last night under the instructions of Mahachaughan he had gone to his temple at Gairar where five persons from different places were waiting for him for performing his puja. Isht Dev observed that there was no such thing called black magic. He then vowed not to ever leave the Chaughan Ashram. He asked Rewati's mother to milk the buffalo and she succeeded.

Isht Dev desired that Pandit Madhusudan Shastri, who had the 'darshan' of Shri Bal Brahmacharie Maharaj in Bombay, be invited to visit Dhanyan.

It was sometime in 1924-25 when Pt Madhusudan who was strolling in Bombay, was called out from behind by a young yogi clad in a cloth and carrying a Kamandal in hand, "Hey, Madhusudan. How is the Padmapuri Ashram?" A surprised Madhusudan wondered who he was! He straight way, left for Padmapuri where he saw Bal yogi Bal Brahmachari again. The Isht Dev amply indicated that Bhole Baba would appear fir before Rewati's uncle Chandra Singh. Others would follow him fo 'darshan'.

The family was advised to off gifts to Krishnanand Brahmin t his full satisfaction and never to pity any person. Since Bhole Baba wa showering His blessings on both human being and cattle, there may not b need to buy any medicines for any of them.

Isht Dev advised that some water from the Karmakories's Naul (a pit with spring water for drinkig) should be taken to Delhi, kept for fiv days near Mahachaughan in the home temple and then served to al including cattle. The baddies consecrate the well's water and even poiso it to keep the entire village population under their influence. But it woul not harm anybody in the Rana family. The family was also told that thoug Bishan Singh was the eldest, Chandra Singh would accomplish all the task for the family. All the responsibilities in relation to the children should b undertaken by Raghuvir Singh. All family members should maintain perfec harmony and cordiality in the large family.

Feeding the Poor Helps On 24th March 1962, at 8.30 am Bishan Singh (retired police inspector), Chandra Singh and Raghuvir Singh took the Maulana to 26-E Pusa Institute, New Delhi. Like he did at the Dhanyan Ashram, the Maulana started prescribing medicines to children. The kids were made to donate breads to beggars, Chandra Singh's wife gave away a chicken to a very poor person. Dilip Singh was asked to scrub out the dried henna from his hands at the river bank. Except one child Khyatendra, all other children were said to have been under the spell of black magic. The Maulana hammered nails in all the four corners of the house so as to protect it from evil forces.

The same day, a watch, a woolen piece for coat and some cloth pieces for shirt and pajamas were gifted to the Maulana as directed by the Isht Dev. No cash was given. On 15th March, the Maulana, accompanied by the retired police inspector, went back to his native place Sultanpur.

Sometimes later, these nasty elements of the area openly started their nefarious activities in Dhanyan. They placed three tiny paper packets, each containing sindoor, some rice grains and some , black stuff, in the cattle shed, two on the Ashram roof and one above the main door. Next day, they put one below a window on the backside of the house. In the evening around the puja time, the stench of a goat's burning hair engulfed the whole area. The foul smell was coming from the last of the paper packs which contained besides rice grains and sindoor, some white pebbles, half burnt hair of a goat and its droppings. Sindoor had been sprinkled on the field adjoining the house.

The evil men took away Bishan Singh to their house on some pretext and tried to assault him. They were scolded by one Bhawaan Singh of Dasaon village for trying to cause physical harm to the Ranas.

On 9th April, Rewati took Govind Singh along to his big farm and asked him to dig it some 4-5 feet deep. When a big stone was taken out, it revealed a trishul beneath which had however lost its tantrik power and become defunct. Rewati told Govind Singh that the trishul was planted to damage the field and its yield.

In the meantime Delhi-based (Chandra Singh) wrote to Rewati in Dhanyan about a dream he had, according to which he would live only for a year. Replying swiftly, she told her uncle that he would continue to have such dreams, as long as propitiations of Lord Shiva in a Shiva temple was not done and a cow donated in Kashi. She sent some ash given by Isht Dev to be applied on the forehead of all the family members as a protective shield. The Isht Dev had advised all not to worry about any thing . He assured Chandra Singh that he would take care of his daughter who was now going to her in-laws place.

The Isht Dev promised to reveal more when she, as well as other family members, assemble at the Ashram for the jaap.

AN END TO EFFECTS OF EVIL FORCES

On 12th May 1962 the entire Rana family in Delhi as well as Rewati along with her husband from Basera village reached the Mahachaughan Ashram at Dhanyan. BED LAYED FOR MAHACHAUGHAN

14. Shri 1008 Maharaj would appear before you in person to give His darshan. 15. Do everything, so you please, but never enslave yourself of any practice. 16. Don't worry about anybody's short life span. Everybody would live his full life. 17. The jaap which is going on in all the temples for long life to the son in-law, should be stopped after the Shivarchan jaap is done.

On 20th May morning, Rewati pulled three of the several trident shaped iron rods out of the outer wall near the main gate. She put them in the temple. In the evening 29th May came Madhusudan Shastri. 10 minutes before midnight Isht Dev said it was a matter of happiness that the Shraddh of late father was conceding with the solemn occasion. All the relevant rituals should take place during the next seven days and end with a yagna. Distribute Prasad among the villagers and wind up the entire observance with Shri Satyanarayan Katha. Isht Dev advised Shashtri in these words : "Being a learned person you are well versed in everything. This is gratifying. Seven person have been given short life. You have to reverse it and avert their early demise. Yet it is an uphill task. But there are clear instructions of Bhole Baba that you alone would accomplish the job and supervise arrangements yourself at a reasonable cost, Don't think you are doing it for Bishan Singh who is always anxious to help the needy and the distressed."

Shastri ordered for some flowers. Offering them to Isht Dev, he said he felt like receiving command directly from 1008 Maharaj Bal Brahmachari. Shastriji was told to go back on Wednesday. Chandra Singh was adivised to fill up the water pitcher all the seven days when jaap goes on in the Shivalaya. The water brought from Delhi should be mixed with the water in the large vessel. The fire in the 'Dhuni' should be kept burning. Light seven lamps daily in each of the temples. Offer cow's milk in the Shiva temple daily for seven days. The Ashram has already been white washed and painted. Now I want you all to stop taking onion and 'masoor ki daal' from the day before the jaap commences after it is over, find out a suitable date to go to Kashi for Gaudaan (Donating a cow). Another Gaudan should be done on the day of the yagna.

On the day of the Shraddh for the ancestors don't forget to invite a Brahmin to this place and offer him a sumptuous meal. Offer a full set of clothes along with necessary accessories and items of 'Shringgar ' to Ma Bhagwati at Her temple one day before the jaap starts. Mahachaughan's carpet which you bring from Delhi should be spread out in the Ashram's temple.

After giving all these instructions, Isht Dev went back at 12.30 pm.

Lord's Directions On 22nd May 1962, the Lord gave the following directions : 1. Do your best to set up a school for the good of the people of the area. It would remain a permanent movement to the selfless deed you perform.

2. Should you have a bad dream put a morsel of cooked rice on a peepal leaf and place it in front of an approaching cow. As it consumes it, whisper your dream into its ear.

3. Never think of separating from the large family. Live peacefully as a cohesive unit without any rancor. Seven off spring in your family had a short life span because of your hard and undesirable feelings. But thanks to Mahachughan, everything is now fine and is in order, Your friends and people close to you are jealous of you.

In the meanwhile Bishan Singh's wife fainted. The Isht assured that she would be perfectly normal. But she became a source of worry for Shastriji when she did not regain consciousness even the next day. He then applied the sacred ash on everybody's forehead. Still why the family was facing so may problems would be explained after the jaap, is over.

On 25th May the Bhole Baba temple the Shivalaya and the like were white washed. Shastri escorted three more Brahmins to the Ashram in the night. The Isht Dev came and issued the following instructions: 1. Don't take any grain till the jaap is completed.

2. Maintain complete peace in the large family.

3. On return from Kashi, donate a lamp made of copper and a grain of gold at Gorakhnath temple.

4. While on way to Kashi, throw away the particular thing sent by Maulana at the specified place.

5. Follow every instruction given by Shastriji without fail who has been designated by Mahachaughan to solve all your problems.

On 26th May all adults in the family observed fast and performed puja in the Shiva Temple. At 10 am the group of Brahmins (priests) sat down for the keenly awaited jaap .

In the evening, a strange thing happened. At about 10 pm, Rewati, while sitting on her bed, showed sign of fear. She tossed about for a while and became unconscious. Restlessly, she kept on twiddling. After some time, she apparently regained her senses. While still in bed she grumbled "I had to undergo this trauma for the fault of Shashtri who spent 45 minutes less than the prescribed time on reciting hymn. Trying to make up for the lost time the next day wont serve the purpose . It would be like missing meals on two days and then eating three days meal on the third day.

Rewati said she would have a plain talk with Shastri in a one-toone meeting the next day with nobody around. Mahchaughan who would remain here all the time for nine days would also tender proper advice to Shastri.

Rewati directed that the bed of Mahachaughan should be laid out before the puja time. A 'lota' (vessel) full of water should be kept by the bedside. When the yajana is completed after the jaap Shri Mahachughan would traverse the whole universe to ensure that nobody is denied His benevolence. Chandra Singh was advised to have his watch touched by his own wife and the wives of his brother and Leela and then be given to Shastriji.

Earlier in the morning finding Rewati possessed by Devi, Shastriji stood before her with folded hands. He muttered, " Devi, please do not let me down". Before going to Shivalaya, Rewati had called Shastriji to the outer room. Greeting her with folded hands, Shashtriji told her"Last night, Maharaj enabled me to have His darshan. He gave me detailed instructions on conducting the jaap. I was also told to accept Rs 44.50 only for this cow to mark Gaudaan. I am glad that I was able to have Maharaj's darshan albeit for wrong reasons".

Shastriji stood once again before Rewati like a devotee and asked to be forgiven for any lapses he might have committed inadvertently.

A lamp was lighted in Shivalaya from the time the jaap commenced. But surprisingly it continued to spread its light even a week after the jaap concluded. Under the instructions of Isht Dev, lamps were lighted in the morning in every temple of Gram Devatas and puja performed.

The jaap was to conclude on 2nd Jun 1962. As such, preparations for the finale also started right from the morning. All the requisite material for the puja and hawan was collected. Some other Brahmins were engaged to do the jaap.

The participants in the yajna included three senior male members of the family three Brahmins and son-in-law Kundan Singh Adhikari (husband of Rewati). Shastri chanted the mantra and led the 'ahuties' (offerings) during the hawan ritual. A propitiated Indra Devata showered his blessing in the form of a drizzle which continued so long as the 'hawan' ceremony went on. After the yajna was over Shastriji performed Satya Narayan Katha.

Jaap Concludes In the evening all the near and dear ones partook of prasad. And with that the much-needed and keenly awaited programs concluded peacefully to the satisfaction of all. This became possible with the blessings and benevolence of Shri 1008 Mahachaughan. Soon after, the Isht Dev gave the following directions: - 1. Go to Kashi on a Monday or Saturday, meet Prem Ballabh Shashtri give my reference and do as he directs. 2. Do not trust anybody and tread continuously. 3. Remember that Mahachaughan has chosen only women as medium to convey godly wishes and instructions. 4. Now that all the problems have been sorted out, you must have unflinching faith in Mahachaughan.

5. On return from Kashi, offer a 'roat' (cake roasted in the fire) prepare with deshi ghee, dry fruits and wheat flour, at Guru Gorakhnath Dhuni. 6. While returning from Kashi, sprinkle Gangajal (sacred water from river Ganges) five times on the head of Bhagwan Singh. 7. Bring Gangajal to the Ashram also and make Narendra sip some of it. 8. In Kashi, complete the formalities of 'Shraddh' of your ancestors and Gaudaan (donate Cow) On 5th June 1962, Isht Dev Gorakhnath appeared and asked for 13 rupees, His instructions :Thirteen years hence , that is , on 5th June 1975, make anybody touch this money and give Rs 1.25 out of it to some beggar, Offer the balance along with a coconut at the Kalyan Bisht temple at Gairar , Light a lamp as well ,rub the sacred ash given by Kalyan Bisht on Narendra's forehead and body , Let not anybody eat any thing except whatever is received from Kalyan Bisht.

On that particular day (5th June , 1975) a Bhikshuk would come to this Ashram and ask for money but do not give him anything , Simply serve him food respectfully but don't let him stay at your place. He would make an impassioned plea but you must refrain from, Otherwise all of you could be in trouble, Don't help him financially either. After persistent attempts, it was disclosed that the visitor would be Sadhu Bhola Nath (Gangua jogi). Give him only a handful of coral and tell him to go from where he had come, Just nod before him as if in approval but don't follow any of his instructions.

Some tips were given for maintenance of good health. These were as follows.

Take one teaspoonful of cow's urine for three days to get rid of common cold and cough. Or mix powder clove and sip every three hour.

It would care many ailments if given to every members of the family once a week.

Isht Dev asked the family to note down the time, date month and year of the birth of all calves delivered by the cows. He said he would explain the reason for collecting the information at a latter date.

PILGRIMAGE TO KASHI

Bishen Singh, Chandra Singh and Bhagwan Singh and his mother left for Kashi early morning of 9th June 1962 where they met Prem Ballabh Shastri and briefly apprised him of all the problems faced by the Rana family. After carrying out all the instructions of the Isht Dev as well as Shastri, They all came back to Dhanyan on 13th June.

In the night of 17th June 1962, Isht Dev arrived to say that ever since the family's problems had been resolved , he was not dwelling in the Ashram any more. Instead, he was now staying in the forests. That was why he was not accessible all this time.

Then he directed that a 'roat' (cake roasted in the fire) be offered at Gorakhnath Dhuni on 19th June 1962. A lamp made of copper with some gold grain placed in it and having nine pods of rolled up cotton wool should be lighted. The burning ends of the nine pods of rolled up cotten represent the nine sadhus who had accompanied Mahachaughan when he visited the place for first time. (There is a reference to it in the earlier pages of this book when Mahachaughan had visited Dhanyan and had taken kheer in this place). Isht Dev disclosed that Shri Mahachaughan would reappear soon and give indications of His arrival. He inspires his followers to reaffirm their unwavering faith in Him. Isht Dev advised that no ploughing should be done in the family farm on the day when 'roat' is offered in the Gorakhnath temple. With that Isht went back.

Offering at Gorakhnath Temple Right from the morning of 19th June 1962, preparations started for the offering of the 'roat' at Gorakhnath temple. Puja was performed at Shivalaya and other temples. All the necessary ingredients, like wheat flour, sugar, ghee, dry fruits, cow milk each item weighing about 1.25kg, were used to bake nine 'roats'. A lamp made of copper was lit in the manner mentioned before, On 29th June Isht Dev directed that the carpet that was brought from Delhi should be carried back for use at the Mahachaughan Ashram. Isht told the family members that now they were heading for better days.

They should forget the past as a bad dream.

Recalling his promise to make revelations about the two calves born in the cattle shed at the Dhanyan Ashram, Isht Dev said they were different because one could clearly see the image of trishul on their forehead. One of them was only 22 days old when it had followed Govind Singh and entered the Ashrams' temple to have Bhole Baba's darshan.

Isht Dev advised the family not to deploy the two calves for the field and follow only Mahachaughan's instructions about them. Later they were donated to Lord Shiva at Jageshwar Temple.

Nobody should venture out at odd hours in the night because the enemies were out to cause harm. The entire family was under the watchful eyes of Mahachaughan and enjoyed His protection, yet it was necessary for them to take care of themselves.

In this context, Isht Dev recalled that seven years ago, one of the baddies had tried to administer a poisonous herb to Govind Singh avowedly to "cure" him of a snakebite. But Mahachaughan granted him wisdom to refuse to consume it. Thus, Bhole Baba gave Govind Singh another lease of life.

1. Isht Dev directed that meals should never be taken at dusk. While leaving for Delhi put some rice and flowers on Mahachaughan's bed.

2. Always fulfil children's wishes. Do not worry if Narendra takes to an undesirable path. Mahachaughan will take care of him.

3. Shri Mahachaughan would lay down for you the line of actions for future. Just have full faith in him.

4. If possible, arrange reading of Bhagwat Purana in 3-4 years time.

During the day time, Raghuvir Singh asked his father Bishan Singh why were most of the devotees of Mahachaughan impoverished ? He was told in the night by Isht Dev that there must have been some reason behind the phenomenon. In any case, Lord is scheduled to arrive shortly when he would unravel the mystery. Isht Dev rubbed the sacred vibhuti (ash) on all those present and gave some for use by the remaining members of the family residing in Delhi in times of both happiness and distress. He then left at about 1 am.

In the meantime Isht Gorakhnath arrived. He gave the following instructions:- 1. Perform the sacred thread ceremony of Bhagwan Singh, Narendra Singh and Yashpal Singh at Kashi.

2. 'Pind' remains the same for as many as 14 generations.

3. The restrictions on eating, dressing and other aspects in daily life observed at the time of births and deaths remain the same for as many as seven generations.

4. The durations of such restrictions gets reduced to only three days between seven and 14 generations.

5. Religious recitation should be arranged by turns at Shivalaya and other temples after one month of birth or death.

6. Construct Bhumiya Devata's temple while conducting Devi Bhagwat.

7. Rest assured, Mahachaughan would grant you appropriate wisdom at the right time.

Dhanyan Ashram is Kashi Never forget Shri 1008 Mahachaughan even for a moment. He is omnipresent and is taking full care of his devotees. Bhole Baba is guiding your destiny and trying to make you a good human being . He is patronizing the Ashram at Dhanyan because He loves you all. People go to Gaya, Kashi and other places to seek him. You don't have to go anywhere. Dhanyan Ashram is Kashi for you. This is not an ordinary place. It is a sacred centre of pilgrimage. Spend one night here and you become eligible to attain Moksha which everbody yearns for.

This Ashram is the abode of Mahachaughan who is all powerful yet merciful. From time to time he comes to eliminate evil forces and guide his followers towards righteousness. Even today, he is getting his wishes executed through us. He may be invisible but he is actually overseeing all the activities that are going on. Isht Dev assessed that he would stay at the Ashram till Mahachaughan arrives.

On 5th July, Rewati's Isht Dev indicated to Bishen Singh that he would leave this world in the presence of Mahachaughan. Isht Dev recalled that whenever Bishan Singh's mother felt depressed, Mahachaughan used to tell her, "Ma. You have three sons. I am your fourth. Why so you worry".

Surely, blessed is the mother before whom Lord Shiva would appear in person as Her son, which power on earth could cause any harm to the members of such a privileged mother?

Isht Dev further told Bishan Singh how his two brothers Dilip Singh and Chandra Singh who were on the verge of retirement from service were often worried about their future and economy, because of their offspring being of tender age. But there was no need to worry. Mahachaughan had now come to stay at the Ashram temple from where he was keeping a strict vigil on all going on. Shortly, Mahachaughan would have His seat in an Ashram in Delhi as well. "All that Prabhu wants you to do is to have patience and peace. Shed all your doubts and apprehensions and leave everything to him".

Isht Dev advised Bishan Singh to ensure that nobody ever entered the kitchen wearing shoes or 'Khadaoon' (wooden sandals) which violate the sanctity of the place.

There were more gems of advice for Bishan Singh for instance : Do not touch the feet (as a mark of paying respect) of anybody other than your parents and blood relations. It can generate an element of arrogance in the other person, for which you will have to take the blame for yourself. The Lord has ensured through Kalyan Bisht, deliverance (by crossing the ocean of birth and rebirth) to all the 22 members of your extended family. Ordinarily, we know that no person can repay the debt he owes to his parents. In your case, you will always remain indebted to Rewati through whom Lord Shiva solved your innumerable problems.

About 4 am on 10th August, Rewati told her father that Mahachaughan was taking bath. A little later, she said He was now performing 'Puja' and having finished He was taking rest "Quite often, you express doubts about the existence and authenticity of Maharaj ji. But remember. He is God personified who is in command of everything creates every thing and enacts 'Leela' for our benefit. We are all His puppets. Give up hatred, jealousy and rancor ill will and carry on your life in a atmosphere of peaceful coexistence with love for every living being.

"You are privileged enough to have been born in this Devashram where you are so close to God watching the various facets of His 'leela'. We must all be grateful to Mahachaughan who arranged a congregation of all the devtaas to take care of you and the humanity at large Maharajji underscored the fact that the road to salvation and deliverance lay in true service and total dedication to Him".

This book is a collection of the prophesies made from true to time about Bhagwan Haidakhandi, manifestation of Lord Shiva by Isht Dev. Their conformation was provided by Baba Haidakhandi Himself who had appeared from May 1970 onwards.
