This is a songbook, not a text to be read silently — the collection used at Haiḍākhāṇ Viśva Mahādhām itself, the āśram of Bābājī’s 1970 reappearance. It gathers two kinds of devotional song: kīrtans, which carry the name or aspect of a deity — Śiva, the Divine Mother Ambā, Hari-Viṣṇu, Hanumān — and are repeated as many times as the singer wishes; and bhajans, hymns that tell a brief story in praise of the Lord in one of His many forms.

What is inside

SectionAbout
IntroductionWhat kīrtans and bhajans are, and how they are used
Songs to BābājīSongs addressed to Bābājī directly
Songs to Lord ŚivaSongs to Śiva, whom Bābājī is held to manifest
Śrī Siddha Siddheśvarī Mātā Haiḍākhāṇḍeśvarjī kī ĀratīThe āratī to the Divine Mother of Haiḍākhāṇ

The Introduction states the underlying theme plainly: “joy, gratitude and love.” The supreme Guru honoured throughout is Bhagwān Haiḍākhān as Śiva — manifest creator and destroyer of the universe — who is also invoked by 108 names given at the end of the collection.

How this book differs from the arati and Sapta Sati

Haidakhandi Arati and Haidakhandi Sapta Sati are each single, fixed liturgical texts, sung in a set form. This book is broader: a working songbook of the actual repertoire sung at the main āśram, addressed across several deities rather than one, and organised for use rather than for sequential reading.

Who compiled it

The collection is issued by the Haidakhandi Samaj, the community that maintains Bābājī’s āśrams — not attributed to a single author, since these are songs the community itself sings and has sung for years, gathered here rather than composed for this edition.

What you are actually reading

  • A collected liturgical text, gathered rather than translated or authored by this library.
  • Hindi and English are set side by side throughout, so the songs can be sung in Hindi while the meaning is followed in English.

If you are deciding where to start

Read — or better, sing — this if you want to take part in devotional practice rather than only read about it, or if you are preparing to attend or take part in kīrtan at an āśram.

Read Haidakhandi Arati first if you want a single short liturgical piece before a broader songbook; this collection is larger and less immediately structured than that one.
